It’s no secret that Denny Hamlin has never been afraid to voice his opinion and stir up some controversy throughout his NASCAR career.
And this past Sunday at the Martinsville playoff race, he brutally voiced his opinion of fellow driver Joey Logano on his radio.
It all went down when Logano made contact with Ty Gibbs on Lap 273 of Stage 3, sending him spinning and causing a large pileup.
Neither Logano nor Gibbs were in the playoffs, but Hamlin was still fighting for a spot in the final four and needed a good finish (realistically he needed a win) to keep his championship hopes alive.
So Hamlin wasn’t too happy with Logano’s on-track antics.
“F*cking Joey, he’s a f*cking piece of shit human.”
I mean SHEESH. Tell us how you really feel, Denny.
Hamlin ultimately didn’t make the Top 4 in the Playoff standings after finishing P3 in Martinsville, and after the race, Hamlin said mechanical failure in Homestead was the reason he didn’t advance in the playoffs.
According to sportskeeda, Hamlin said:
“The mechanical failure last week with the power steering, that sealed our fate. I’m really proud of this whole team for showing up today when we really needed to, having probably a mid-50-point day.
They did great. Man, I just want to get ready and go try to win next week. I still love it so much because every week I feel like I got a shot to win.
That’s what fuels my passion, even at my age, to keep doing this, is I’m with the team that I got that gives me such fast cars every week and gives me a chance to continue to pile on those stats before the end of my career.”
It’s not the first time that tempers have flared between Hamlin and Logano at Martinsville. Back in 2019, the two got together during the race, and then came to blows on pit road afterwards.
But the most memorable part of the whole thing was Hamlin’s spot-on impersonation of Joey Logano:
