New music from Sierra Ferrell is HERE.

After playing this song on the road for over a year, Sierra Ferrell releases “Fox Hunt” today. As her first solo single release since her beloved 2021 debut album Long Time Coming, Ferrell gives listeners a taste of what is in store for her new music.

The quick-paced folklore-style song highlights a fox hunt needed to provide for the children. The upbeat tempo mimics the excitement hunters feel as they chase the animal through the woods, leading them to a successful bounty.

Ferrell explains the backstory of the track:

“Fox Hunt is my ode to hunters. We live in a world where most all of us get everything from a supermarket, and we take that food security, or at least the convenience, for granted.

It wasn’t that long ago where that wasn’t the case… where hunting and gathering was how regular folks provided for their family, and leaving the hunt empty-handed wasn’t much of an option.”

The single is accompanied by an animated music video that makes you feel like you are watching an old-timey cartoon that unfolds the story she sings. Ferrell has always been authentically herself through the music she releases, and this single showcases that we will continue to get that in her upcoming projects.

Although an official release date has not been set, Sierra Ferrell told Whiskey Riff that her next album is (hopefully) slated for an early spring 2024 release.

“My record’s probably not going to be out till next year, maybe March. There are like 13 songs on it, so it’s like a full…a full ass record.”

Given Ferrell’s intentionality found throughout her last album, I am sure this next one will also be a work of art. While exciting things are on the horizon for the West Virginia native, I am so damn excited to have a new track from Ferrell to blast.

Turn it up.

While this is Ferrell’s first solo single since 2021, she has been busy collaborating with some incredible artists like Zach Bryan, Margo Price, Diplo, Shakey Graves, and many more. With her sound that can fit into a wide array of genres, she is a dream collaboration.

Ferrell will be taking a big stage soon on her sold-out upcoming stint with Zach Bryan. I am sure his fans will eat up her electric stage presence and boot-stomping Appalachian roots.
