Watch Sierra Ferrell Deliver A Knockout Performance Of Unreleased “Fox Hunt”

Sierra Ferrell country music

I HOPE Sierra Ferrell drops this as a single soon.

In late spring and over the summer, many clips surfaced of Ferrell testing out a new single. I’ve seen many videos with a few different titles for the tune, primamrily “Fox Hunt,” but most recently, a clip of the tune from FreshGrass 2022 in North Adams, MA is going by “The Hunter.”

The song has very traditional bluegrass roots with a theme of living off the land.

The heavy fiddle introduction combined with a stomp n’ hollar beat draws you in quickly as the listener. The already upbeat song takes it up a notch when the guitar and mandolin players jump in.

The quick lyrics frame out a story of getting ready for a hunt, but the main focal point of the song is the instruments. In true Ferrell fashion, she kills the lyric with her naturally wide vocal range.

The performance is full of so much energy, and she gets the crowd involved by keeping beat and doing call-back vocals. Looks like a damn good time.

Ferrell is redefining the sound of country music by connecting modern-day listeners to the roots of folk sound.

This song is no exception…I’m begging you, Sierra Ferrell, please give us new music soon.

Watch it performed in a softer light from Basement East in Nashville, Tennessee, earlier this year, just for fun.
