Earlier today, former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling announced on his podcast, The Curt Schilling Baseball Show, that legendary Red Sox knuckleballer Tim Wakefield has been diagnosed with a very serious and aggressive form of brain cancer.
It was a tough pill to swallow, as Wakefield has been an inspiration to so many, with his crazy story of transitioning from first baseman to knuckleball pitcher while in the minors, and has always been one of the good guys of baseball.
All we can do is send our thoughts and prayers to Wakefield and his family as they go through this trying time.
However, I couldn’t help but think to myself: Why is Schilling making this announcement, and not Wakefield or his family?
This is a an incredibly sad subject, and you would think it wasn’t Schilling’s place to make an announcement like this.
Sure enough, the Red Sox released a statement about the matter, and admitted that Schilling did not have permission to make this announcement:
“We are aware of the statements and inquiries about the health of Tim and Stacy Wakefield. Unfortunately, this information has been shared publicly without their permission.
Their health is a deeply personal matter they intended to keep private as they navigate treatment and work to tackle this disease.
Tim and Stacy are appreciative of the support and love that has always been extended to them and respectfully ask for privacy at this time.”
And now, a Red Sox legend’s wife is speaking out against Schilling’s decision to make the announcement himself, and it’s no other than the wife former Sox catcher and two time World Series winner Jason Varitek, Catherine Varitek.
She tweeted out:
“F*ck you Curt Schilling, that wasn’t your place!”
Fuck you Curt Schilling, that wasn’t your place!

You have to agree with Varitek here, and it was a low move by Schilling…
And she isn’t the only one:
The extent to which Curt Schilling fucking sucks is remarkable

So in a two day span, Curt Schilling has both revealed to the public that a beloved player has agressive brain cancer against his wishes, and posted full fledged modern nazi propaganda about “the Jewish Question” and “The Final Solution”
Absolute scumbag. Despicable human.

Pulling for Tim Wakefield and loathing Curt Schilling all at once. #dirtywater

Curt Schilling is trash. Been trash. Will be trash. Trash in perpetuity.

So we all agree that Curt Schilling is an awful person?
