Tragic news out of the NFL this weekend.

Over the weekend games, MANY fights broke out. From the wild brawl at Cowboy Stadium leaving fans bloodied, to the man who goes headbutted by a fan in handcuffs, fans seem to be charged this year…leading to charges.

A fight went too far on Saturday night though when a New Hampshire man, Dale Mooney, 53, was punched at a New England Patriots game by a Miami Dolphins fan. After the incident, the man went unconscious, and new reports share that Mooney sadly passed after the incident.

Spectator Joey Kilmartin talked to MassLive about his recall of the alternation.

“The Dolphins fan walks over and clearly punches him in the face. (He) gets knocked out, and you can tell right away he’s not OK.

It’s an unfortunate situation. I feel bad for the family.”

Other spectators noted that Mooney could not get up after the punch. EMT personnel arrived to perform CPR and took him to seek further medical attention.

He was rushed from the stadium to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.

Mooney’s wife spoke to WCVB as she grieves the loss of her husband and the father to their two children.

“I want to know what happened. What caused this? I just don’t understand why people have to go to that extreme.

Why can’t it just be fun? That’s all it’s supposed to be, a fun family event.”

The news outlet shared still images from spectators of the altercation.

The Norfolk DA has been assigned to the case, and the investigation is ongoing.

Our thoughts are with Mooney’s family during this time.
