Reba Gets Back To Her Comedy Chops In New Trailer For NBC Sitcom “Happy’s Place”

How can Reba McEntire so easily do it all?

The 69-year-old artist had an album and book titled Not That Fancy release back in October, she currently serves as a judge on NBC’s The Voice, she just recently hosted the 2024 ACM Awards, and she now has a sitcom called Happy’s Place headed to NBC this Fall.

You would think that 3-time Grammy winning artist would want to slow things down at some point, but one could argue that this is the busiest that Reba has been in the entirety (one might even say McEntirety) of her illustrious career. She must like staying busy, and she evidently likes putting together sitcoms. Reba’s new project will be different than her beloved show from the 2000’s (in which she played a fictitious version of herself), but it will share some similarities.

The biggest similarity will be that Happy’s Place will feature a reunion of former Reba co-stars in McEntire and Melissa Peterman. The incomparable “Barbra Jean” could not have been played by anyone else on the classic 2000’s TV show, and now Peterman will bring her patented energy to what I’m sure will become another iconic role alongside Reba in the new sitcom.

While Reba is set to play a character named Bobbie who inherits a family restaurant and finds out she has a half-sister (Belissa Escobedo), Melissa will reportedly play a “needy and dramatic” character named Gabby who works at the inherited restaurant. Sounds like “Barbra Jean 2.0” to me, and I’m perfectly fine with that. I’m sure everyone else will be too.

We finally got a trailer for the upcoming sitcom, and it looks like Reba didn’t miss a beat with her comedic timing. After all, she did do the original Reba sitcom for six years, so it was probably like getting back on a bicycle for the talented country star.

And it’s great to see McEntire and Peterman back together on screen again. They’re real life best friends, so their chemistry likely only got better between the end of Reba and the beginning of Happy’s Place, which will air on NBC in a couple of months.
