It is no topic for debate that Lainey Wilson has had a KICK ASS year.
She is on FIRE from being on the road non-stop, being the new voice of the College Gameday anthem, her single with HARDY just going Platinum, breaking attendance records, and so much more. Anything you search country music related, there is a strong chance one of the top results contains her name.
As CMA Award nominations came out today, Lainey Wilson kept that hot streak rolling.
Lainey led the pack with 9 nominations (technically it’s 10, but the award for Song of the Year goes to songwriter, and though her collaboration with Hardy, “wait in the truck” was nominated, she’s not credited as a writer on the song).
She even got two singles nominated in the same category twice, with both “Heart Like a Truck” and “wait in the truck” snagging nods for both Single of the Year and Song of the Year. And she was nominated twice for Video of the Year, for both “wait in the truck” and her collaboration with Jelly Roll on “Save Me.”
After the nominations were announced, Lainey shared her gratitude on Instagram:
“Holy moly y’all. Someone pinch me. I can’t believe my eyes. I’m so proud of everything we’ve done this year for my own music and these collabs with my brothers HARDY and Jelly Roll. Thank y’all for having me on these songs.
Being nominated in each of these categories amongst my friends means the world to me. And the coveted Entertainer Of The Year category?! It’s absolutely surreal. We bust our butts out there on the road every dang night to give y’all the best show possible, and I have the time of my life doing it.
All I gotta say is thank y’all. I love country music.”
At the end of her post, she shared her face of pure shock.
I can only imagine the wave of emotions she is going through today as she receives news of all nine nominations. What a killer way to start the day.
