Morgan Wallen made a huge donation during his back-to-back sold-out shows at Chicago’s Wrigley Field this weekend.

On behalf of his charity, The Morgan Wallen Foundation, they donated $100,000 for the revitalization of South Chicago’s Bessemer Park baseball field.

He invited students from nearby high schools backstage prior to the concert to present the check, which will help with a fully upgraded diamond and new backstop, side wings and dugouts, including extended side wings, and will include rehabilitating the playing surface for multiple levels of play.

The donation goes along with a previous $150,000 donation from Cubs Charities for the park, and Morgan says he was thrilled to be back on stage in Chicago after a doctor-ordered six week vocal rest and be able to help the community in this way through his foundation.

Morgan grew up playing baseball, so this is a cause very near and dear to his heart:

“Our mission with the Morgan Wallen Foundation is to support youth programs in the areas of sports and music.

We are thrilled to donate $100k to Bessemer Park to give the kids a place to play ball here in South Chicago.

This donation combined with being back on stage performing for my fans tonight at Wrigley is a true double header for me.”

Bessemer Park opened in the South Chicago community in 1905, and became a beautifully landscaped ‘breathing space’ for new immigrants that also provided social services including meals, education, health care and recreation.

The park continues to offer summer camps, boxing and plenty of baseball to this day, and is utilized mostly by students in the surrounding neighborhoods, allowing them free access to play ball and hone their craft at the sport.

Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Rosa Escareño says the premiere, improved baseball field will be a major upgrade for students to use in order to build a foundation for a lifetime of healthy living and engaging in important team sports and learning opportunities:

“The Chicago Park District is extremely grateful to the Morgan Wallen Foundation for this generous donation to Bessemer Park.

This gift will help upgrade the park’s ballfield and existing playing surfaces.

These improved amenities will enhance recreational opportunities that families rely on to keep our children and teens engaged in positive activities and build the foundation for healthy living.”

And during his stop at the home of the Chicago Cubs, Morgan became the first country artist to sell out two back-to-back nights at Wrigley Field with 83,076 fans in attendance across both nights.

He also invited his friend and collaborator Lil Durk, a Chicago native, on stage to perform their new song “Stand By Me”:
