Morgan Wallen Announces He Has To Go On Strict Vocal Rest For The Next Six Weeks, Cancels All Shows In That Time Frame

Bad news if you’re supposed to be seeing Morgan Wallen in the next six weeks.

He just announced on Instagram that he reinjured his vocal cords after going on vocal rest for 10 days, and he is being put on vocal rest again for the next six weeks.

Of course, I think we all heard about him cancelling his concert in Oxford, Mississippi back on April 23rd, as chaos ensued when it happened just minutes before he was supposed to take the stage.

He then returned full-force last weekend in Florida with three sold out shows on his One Thing At A Time world tour, but it sounds like his vocal cords weren’t totally healed, and after a visit to Vanderbilt Voice Center yesterday, he was informed that he needed to go on strict vocal rest for the next six weeks.

Morgan shared a lengthy video on Instagram explaining everything, clearly very disappointed that he’s having to cancel so many huge, sold-out shows and even a few festival performances that were slated for the beginning of this summer.

He added that doctor’s advised him to not even talk at all, unless he absolutely had to, and that he could permanently damage his voice if he ignored their advice and kept singing.

Morgan also thanked fans for their continued support, saying that he “hates” doing this but had to make this decision for the longevity of his career.

You can read his full statement below.

“I’m just gonna go ahead and get straight to it, I’ve got some bad news from my doctors at the Vanderbilt Voice Center yesterday. After taking 10 days of vocal rest, I performed three shows last weekend in Florida, and by the third one, I felt terrible.

So I went in and got scoped yesterday, and they told me that I reinjured my vocal cords, and that I have vocal fold-something. Their advice is that I go on vocal rest for six weeks, so that’s what I’m gonna do. They want me not to talk at all, but they said if I need to it’s okay for something like this.

I also tore my lat while we were in Australia, I’ve been trying to work through that quietly, but this time off is gonna help me get that back right. We’re working on rescheduling all the dates during this tine frame, we’ve almost got that done but some of them are pending so i can’t update you.

I won’t be able to make these festivals that I have during this time frame, but we are gonna make those right in the next year. I won’t be able to do the ACM Awards Lifting Lives event, but y’all make sure you still go. It’s for a great cause.

They told me that if I do this the right way, that I’ll get back to 100%. And they also said that if  I don’t listen and keep singing, then I’ll permanently damage my voice. So for the longevity of my career, this is just the choice I had to make.

I hate it, but I love you guys, and I appreciate all the support you always give me. I’ll see you soon, and I’ll be back better than ever. God bless you.”

Morgan noted that his team is currently working on rescheduling all of his headlining tour shows, adding that they do plan to make up the festival dates next year, as well.
