Things are going from bad to worse for former two division UFC Champion Conor McGregor.
Disturbing reports of the Irishman allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at the NBA Finals made their way to the public just yesterday, and now video has leaked which appears to show the moments just before the incident allegedly went down.
The video was obtained by TMZ and shows a scene taking place around midnight after Game 4 of the NBA Finals in Miami.
The woman’s face is blurred out to maintain her privacy through this horrific ordeal, but Conor’s face can be clearly seen leading the woman to the bathroom.
The woman’s attorney released the following statement upon the footage being made public.
“My client was under the belief they were leaving and going to the Four Seasons Hotel, as Conor had previously asked her to join him at his hotel room.
The man with the braids then stopped at the door of the bathroom, when Conor grabbed my client (as seen in the video). My client believed they were leaving, but instead, Conor took her into the restroom.
My client remembers having no less than six drinks that night and has admitted the parts she recalls. My client did not even recall who led her into the restroom until seeing this video.”
The statement then goes into awful details of what they allege went down in that bathroom, which you can find if you really want to read them, I can’t type it up.
On one hand, it doesn’t seem like the woman was forced into the bathroom, but on the other security guards certainly lined up in front of the door to prevent anyone from getting in or out. It was obviously a crazy atmosphere so it’s easy to see how the woman could easily have been confused with what was happening.
It also appears that the woman is looking for money according to her demand letter, and is seeking settlements with McGregor, the NBA and the Miami Heat.
McGregor’s lawyer stood firm that this was nothing more than a “shakedown” and maintains that his client will be proven innocent through this process.
His attorney issued the following statement to TMZ:
“After the video was released by TMZ, the claimant’s lawyer now has changed her story. Mr. McGregor welcomes the investigation, which he firmly believes will show the claims against him are false.
After not responding to the demand for money made by claimant’s counsel, she turned to the media to apply pressure. This is no more than a shakedown.”
We’ll see how this all shakes out, but it certainly doesn’t look good, especially when you consider it’s not even close to McGregor’s first run in with situations like this. He had also just announced his 4th child with fiancée Dee Devlin the day before, which just adds another awful detail to this whole thing.
Time will tell, but I just hope the truth comes out and justice can be served if what they are alleging is true.
