If you’re looking for an up and coming artist who is the perfect blend of Americana, folk, roots rock, and country music, look no further than Christian Lopez.
The Martinsburg, West Virginia native has officially announced his upcoming album, Magdalena, slated to drop on June 9th. His 4th career studio record, the album follows up his Dave Cobb produced 2015 project Onward, the stellar 2017 album, Red Arrow, and his most recent 2021 album, The Other Side.
The album title is based off of the New Mexico town Magdalena, where he spent the past two years songwriting in an adobe casita.
He weighed in on the new album:
“The universe has a way of peeling back the layers to either break us down or give us clarity. It was a year ago this month that I lost my little brother to a fentanyl overdose in West Virginia, and it’s been six months since I’ve married the love of my life.
I’ve felt love and loss that I never would’ve expected this early in my journey, but now as I get older, my only goal is to leave behind the purest form of what I can do and give.
This album is just that.. no frills, no cowrites, no studio band, no compromises… just me.”
And on top of that, he also dropped the lead single today, titled “Girl & A Gun.”
