He just announced a new headlining Las Vegas residency, Garth Brooks/Plus ONE, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace starting in 2023.
After embarking on a stadium tour for a lot of this year, and the past few years prior, he wanted to try something different and “shrink it back down” from headlining massive stadiums to tens of thousands of fans.
And as for the reasoning behind the name, Garth explained on GMA this morning that they’ll take a bit of a different approach…
He’s calling it a one man show, where he’ll have his band members sitting in the audience at the ready for whenever he wants to pull them up on stage:
“We’re calling it the ‘Plus ONE’ because we’re going to try something we’ve never tried before. The band is coming but It’s the one-man show.
They’re going to sit in the audience, so any time you want a fiddle just to come up and join you, any time you just want percussion and background to come up and sing or it’s just you — or just bring the whole band up to do ‘Friends in Low Places’ — this should be stupid.”
It certainly sounds like it will be interesting, to say the least.
I can’t say I’ve ever been to a show that sounds quite like this, but if anyone’s gonna try something like it, it’s Garth.
He added that he’s excited to host it at The Colosseum, saying it’s the perfect venue for what he wants the show to be:
“Vegas is the place where anything goes, and The Colosseum at Caesars is the heart of Vegas.
The perfect combination to present a show that will not only push the envelope, it’s gonna shred it.”
Garth had a multi-year residency in Vegas at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas from 2009 2013.
