Talk about a dream team…

Dolly Parton and Kelly Clarkson just announced that they’ll be releasing a reworked version of Dolly’s 1980 #1 mega hit “9 to 5” next month.

The song is a revamped duet version of Dolly’s classic song that’s part of an upcoming documentary about the original film called Still Working 9 to 5.

The film has already made rounds on the film festival circuit, and Dolly told Rolling Stone that she loves what producer Shane McAnally has done with her iconic tune:

“I was blown away when I heard what Shane had done with my song. This arrangement shows how differently a song can be done and the story can be told in a whole new way.

A special thanks to Steve Summers for getting the ball rolling on this whole musical venture.”

Kelly shared the news on her Twitter page, saying that it is a dream come true to collaborate on this song with Dolly:

“The new version of “9 to 5” that I recorded with the legendary Dolly Parton is finally coming out on September 9th!!

Thank you Shane McAnally for making this dream a reality and putting this project together. Pre-save it now!”

The film first premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March, and will be available to the public on September 16th. It features interviews from original cast members of the movie, including Dolly, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

This new tune will drop in a couple weeks on September 9th to coincide with National Women’s Equality Day.

Of course, Dolly Parton can do absolutely no wrong in my book, and we know Kelly can sing the hell out of a good country song, so I’m pretty dang excited to get to hear this new take on one of my all-time favorite tunes.
