Charley Crockett Drops The Title Track For Upcoming Album, ‘The Man From Waco’

Charley Crockett country music

There may not be a busier guy in country music than Charley Crockett.

The man already has produced a mind boggling 11 albums in only seven years, bringing in his sweet mix of western swing, country, and the blues for an old school sound that is incredibly unique in this day and age.

With that being said, album 12 is on the way, titled The Man From Waco, and it’s slated to drop on September 9th.

On top of that, the title-track to the album officially drops today.

Crockett weighed in on where he drew the inspiration for the lead single:

“We were driving over the Brazos River and started talking about James Hand, who passed away in the pandemic. One of the guys was playing accordion and I started singing a melody.

At first, we were having fun with it. We weren’t making fun of James or anything, but we weren’t taking the song seriously. But sometimes, it’s those songs that you’re not taking seriously that end up being the ones that stick and begin to take on a whole other meaning.”

The album was produced by Crockett’s longtime manager and fellow singer/songwriter Bruce Robison, at his studio in Lockhart, Texas.

He also weighed in on the album as a whole:

“Most of these songs were cut in a few takes. There was a looseness that led to a lot of inspired performances that felt good right away.”
