Bison attacks have become very common at Yellowstone National Park here recently.
In fact, three people were gored by bison at the park in the span of only a week, and there’s been a few others that have occurred this year as well, including one woman who was paralyzed after getting tossed up in the air by one of the creatures.
Granted, it’s almost always the result of disobeying rules, getting too close, and in general, just acting like an idiot.
Needless to say, those people are examples as to why you should head the park’s warnings of staying at least 25 yards away from the wildlife, in order to protect both the animal and yourself.
Here we have yet another example of a bison attack, but this time, it attacked somebody’s car.
In the footage, you can see two bison sitting on the side of the road, as cars try to pass by.
With that being said, one car begins to slowly approach the bison, and nearly comes to a complete stop at one point, appearing to try to get a picture, or just get up close to one.
Of course, the bison didn’t take too kindly to the car slowing down, and proceeded to headbutt the front end of the car with near full force.
The videographer who posted the footage recalled the situation in the caption:
“This large bison was standing still in the middle of the road, so cars stopped in both directions with plenty of room between them and the bison. Along comes another bison from up the valley, up to the road, much closer to the car.
The larger bison then decides to walk over to the smaller (yet still large) bison. That’s when this happened. Just think if he really put all his force into the ram. Luckily no one was hurt, not even the bison.”
Have fun telling the insurance company that one…
It’s uncertain why the bison decided to headbutt the car, as it didn’t appear to pose a threat initially. However, it is mating season for bison, and male bison tend to get ornery during this time of year.
