Airbnb Host Goes Viral Calling Out Hosts Who Make You Clean Before You Leave: “This Chore Stuff Drives Me Insane”

If you’re a frequent user of Airbnb, there’s a good chance you’ve run into a host who’ll basically leave you a check-out list, asking you to clean up after your stay…

Mop, vacuum, get the mail, walk the dog, and bake them a damn cake.

Okay okay, maybe not the last few, but it’s never really made sense to me why some Airbnb hosts will make their guests clean up after your stay, AND THEN… charge you a substantial cleaning fee.

Like, mf’er… I just cleaned the damn house…

We’ve seen a number of complaints coming from guests of Airbnbs, talking about how their hosts ask for some outrageous favors from their guests, and with prices no longer really being cheaper than hotels, many travelers are opting for the convenience of a hotel.

For example, according to In The Know, a woman named Amanda took to TikTok to talk about how she got a negative review from her host, because she requested extra toilet paper…

Yeah…

With that being said, one Airbnb host, who is rockin’ a cowboy hat I should say, took to TikTok to explain why he would never leave his guests a long list of check-out chores, and how he wants to make the process as smooth as possible.

The TikToker, named John-Michael Thomas, explained why he makes the checkout process easy for his guests:

“You’re on vacation. You’re not a housekeeper. The hosts who do this chore stuff drives me insane.”

He explained that he puts his checkout process instructions on the back of the door, because he wants the guests to know that he’s on their side, and doesn’t want them to get fined.

And his instructions are:

“Close the door. “

And then in tiny italicized letters it says:

“Yep, that’s it, that’s all you need to do. Try to remember to lock it.”

And that’s how it should be.
