Hearts are heavy in the music community.
Miley Cyrus broke down while paying tribute to her late friend, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, at Lollapalooza Brazil this past weekend.
Her plane was recently struck by lightning and was forced to make an emergency landing on the way to Asunciónico Music Festival in Paraguay, and she tearfully confessed on stage that Taylor was the first person she called when they landed:
“I think probably everybody heard the news that we lost a legend in rock music yesterday, my friend Taylor Hawkins, and I just want to send my most peaceful wishes to Foo Fighters family and to the Hawkins family.
I don’t know how much I’m gonna be able to sing this next song or how much I’m gonna get through it. But a couple days ago we had a pretty terrifying on our end too, we were flying to one of the other festivals and our plane fucking got struck by lightning.
We had to make this emergency landing and the first person that I called was Taylor, because he was already at the festival. And that would’ve been a time that I would’ve gotten to my friend and I didn’t… so it makes me really sad.
I would’ve done anything to hang out with him one more time.”
She dedicated the performance of “Angels Like You” to him.
“This song is called ‘Angels Like You’ and I want to dedicate it to them, but you guys are gonna have to help me”
Dave Grohl Introduces Taylor Hawkins During Final Show Together
The drummer for the legendary rock band had passed away in his hotel room at the Casa Medina in Bogota, Colombia. The band had been scheduled to perform at the Estereo Picnic festival on Friday.
He was 50 years old.
The Attorney General of Colombia released a statement this evening announcing that a preliminary toxicology report showed Hawkins had 10 different substances in his system at the time of his death, including THC, opioids, benzodiazepines, and tricyclic antidepressants.
No official cause of death was announced, and the Attorney General’s office said that they will continue to investigate and release results after they are obtained.
Colombian health officials also released a statement mourning Hawkins’ passing:
“The District Department of Health mourns the death of this talented musician and drummer, widely recognized internationally for his work. Besides, the entity sends its message of condolences to the family, colleagues and followers.”
However, as we turn our heartache into good memories, a video from Foo Fighters last performance has begun to go viral.
From Lollapalooza Music Festival in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the video featured Foo Fighters frontman and founder Dave Grohl delivering a heartfelt introduction to his longtime bandmate and friend:
“There’s one more person you can’t forget.. ladies and gentleman… Taylor Hawkins plays the drums in the Foo Fighters. You know the best thing about Taylor Hawkins… he’s the best fucking drummer in the world, we love him so much, but you… haven’t seen his pants yet.
Do you wanna see Taylor Hawkins pants? Do you wanna see his pants?
Taylor Hawkins come on down and sing a song, you can see his pants… because that mother fucker can sing and those pants make him sound better.”
To which Taylor replied:
“I fucking love Dave Grohl man, I’d be delivering pizzas if it wasn’t for Dave Grohl, I’d be managing the drum department at a Guitar Center if it wasn’t for Dave Grohl.
Do you guys wanna hear Dave play the fucking drums?”

Taylor launched into a performance of Queen’s “Somebody To Love.”
