Chris Stapleton & Adele Rumored To Perform Together At The CMA Awards

Adele Chris Stapleton

We recently heard the INCREDIBLE news that Chris Stapleton will get a feature on Adele’s new 30 album, which she revealed has been a dream of hers for quite some time now.

Since the news broke, there’s been a ton of noise about how this could be one of the greatest collabs of all time.

Is that a hot take?

I don’t think so.

We’re talking about two of the greatest singers/songwriters the music industry has seen over the past two decades, and easily two of the best pure vocalists… it’s going to be incredible.

And with that being said, the interwebs have been cooking up this rumor that the two will be delivering a surprise performance at the CMA Awards tomorrow night.

According to CMA Awards Executive Producer Robert Deaton, there’s a big surprise coming:

“I mean, I do have a surprise. But if I told you what the surprise was, then it wouldn’t be a surprise anymore.

There should be a surprise that hopefully everybody is talking about for years to come.”

But here’s the thing… the CMA Awards are desperate for viewers.

How do they get viewers? By announcing ahead of time that Chris Stapleton and Adele will be performing together for the first time ever and hoping that people who otherwise would never watch the CMA Awards tune in.

They’re not really in the business of surprises…

Also, Country Music Association CEO Sarah Trahern said that Jennifer Hudson’s performance will be this year’s “outside the genre, transformative moment” similar to Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton’s duet or Beyoncé and the Dixie Chicks performance.

“I imagine that will be one of those water cooler moments.”

So yeah… I wouldn’t hold my breath…

Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see Chris and Adele take the stage together, but I just don’t see it happening.

Adele recently teased the “Easy On Me” music video on Instagram:
