Though we’re usually bringing you some sort of funny, outlandish story about a cast member when it comes to Tiger King and all of the characters on the show, today, it’s pretty unfortunate news.
Joe Maldonado, better known to us as Joe Exotic, took to Twitter yesterday afternoon to share that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer:
“Doctors called me in today to break the news that my prostate biopsy came back with an aggressive cancer, Carole Will have her own party over this!
Say a prayer everyone & be my voice. love #joeexotic #exclusive #breakingnews #freejoeexotic #justiceforjoeexotic.”
In the tweet, his team also posted a photo of a hand written letter from Joe, which reads:
“It is with a sad face that I have to tell you that the doctors called me in today to break the news that my prostate biopsy’s came back with an aggressive cancer.
I am still waiting on the results from other test as well. Right now I don’t want anyone’s putty. And I’m sure Carole will have her own party over this. What I need is the world to be my voice to be released.
They have the proof I did not do this and there is no reason for the U.S. attorney to drag this out so I can go home and get treatment on my own, or enjoy what life I have left with my loved ones. Say a prayer please. Be my voice please, love everyone, Joe Exotic.”
Joe is currently serving time in prison for a murder for hire plot that was featured on the massive Netflix hit show Tiger King, and his attorney says he’s been undergoing medical treatment and tests for many other issues in addition to this.
Joe’s nemesis on the show, Carole Baskin, who’s a large part of the reason he’s in prison, had previously offered to help reduce Joe’s sentence, but it doesn’t appear like that’s going to be happening any time soon.
As Joe mentioned in the letter, healthcare is different in prison, so hopefully he can still get the help he needs in there.
