The ACM Awards Are Heading Back To Las Vegas In 2022… But They Need To Change A Whole Lot More Than Just The Location

The ACM Awards are heading back to Las Vegas in 2022.

Not that there’s all that much interest in these types of awards shows anymore though, as their ratings hit an all time low this past year and had been declining steadily in previous years, as well.

But, it does signal some sort of return to normalcy after multiple artists like Eric Church, Kip Moore, Jason Aldean and now Ashley Mcbryde have all recently announced headlining tours to kickoff later this year.

After the show was postponed until fall of 2020 due to the coronavirus, and then held during its normal weekend this past April (both times in Nashville), The Academy of Country Music recently announced it will officially return to Sin City on April 24th of next year.

It’s the first time the show has been hosted there since 2019. And, after this years ACM’s, they’re gonna have to shake things up a bit if they want to get their ratings up and be able to keep doing it at all.

Like I said before, they desperately need to figure out a way to freshen up the format of these shows. Because, as we all know, there is no scenario on planet earth that should ever, ever occur where Dan + Shay win duo of the year over Brooks and Dunn

Or, to reiterate my point, they could just start with getting the awards right and nominate artists who really deserve it and actually sing country music:

Oh, and here’s a crazy thought… don’t have a TIE for Entertainer of the Year. Though this year it wasn’t a tie, Luke Bryan still took home top honors which left a lot of us all sorts of confused (to put it nicely).

Better yet, I think they should just let Eric and Alan take the reins and host this year. Maybe they can be in charge of nominations, too? I have a feeling that would get some ratings up.

Country music on the Academy of Country Music awards show? I know, it’s a wild thought…

Here they are this performing this past year:

“Bunch Of Nothing”

“Drive (For Daddy Gene)”/ “You’ll Aways Be My Baby”

If you want me to watch an award show and actually enjoy it, toss the mics to these two and get some real talent on that stage that includes people like Tyler Childers and Zach Bryan, not a constant barrage of Old Dominion, Dan + Shay, Maren Morris and Florida Georgia Line.

But of course, we’re definitely keeping Miranda for another three-peat of performances again, too:
