So much for a dry spell…
Country artists often partner with other companies for their own clothing lines, or brands of alcohol, or perfumes, or countless other products that they can sell with their names on them. But I think Kacey Musgraves may be the first country artist with her own brand of…lube.
The country singer has partnered with wellness brand Medicine Mama to launch her own “intimate care” product called Drought Drops, inspired by her song “Dry Spell.”
The horny song dropped back in March, and finds Kacey reflecting on her own sexual frustrations…as in, she wasn’t getting any:
“It’s been a real long three-hundred and thirty-five days
And the last time, it wasn’t good anyway
I’m so lonely, lonely with a capital ‘H’
If you know what I mean, I’ve been sitting on the washing machine”
The lube is a take on Medicine Mama’s own lubricant Intimate Glide, but features Kacey’s own flirty branding and special-edition packaging.
The company, which specializes in “clinically tested innovations in female hygiene and pleasure,” says they were inspired to partner with Kacey because of her openness about intimate issues.
According to CEO and founding Chief Medical Officer Clare Bertucio:
“We’ve always believed intimate care deserves the same openness, care and attention as every other part of our health and belongs in our daily routines. Kacey has a unique ability to make deeply personal conversations feel universal, bringing honesty, humility and even a little humor to topics that are often left unsaid. Those same values have been at the heart of Medicine Mama since Day One.
Together, we’re helping make intimate wellness feel less stigmatized, more approachable and maybe even a little more fun. We couldn’t imagine a better partner for this collaboration.”
And Kacey says the product is designed to help fans avoid their own “dry spells.”
“Drought Drops is a cheeky little wink to my song, combined with a great product from Medicine Mama. Hopefully it keeps the dry spells away and the good times coming.”
Of course, there are some who may not be a fan of Kacey getting into the sexual pleasure industry. In fact, the “Follow Your Arrow” singer revealed that her grandmother Barbara wasn’t a fan of one particular line in the song.
“I’ve never talked about self-pleasure before. So that’s a first for me: ‘Sitting on the washing machine.’ It’s not my grandma’s favorite line, but it’s mine, I guess.”
Of course, you’ll remember Kacey’s very popular reference to her grandma on her 2018 song “Slow Burn,” where she sings about her “grandma cried when I pierced my nose.”
Thankfully, Nana hasn’t seen the video for “Dry Spell” yet, and I think that’s probably for the best… Kacey holds up an eggplant just to start it off if that gives you any indication of what it’s like, and Kacey explained that while they were actually filming the video, she got a text that her grandma had been rushed to the hospital, and she was on the phone crying, saying that if her Nana lived, she was going to “hate” the video:
“I don’t know if she’ll laugh. Actually, in the middle of filming the video, I got a text from my dad that Nana had to be rushed to the hospital: She had a really scary extreme high blood pressure incident. So I had to leave and I was on the call, crying, like, ‘If Nana lives, she’s gonna hate this video!'”
Luckily Nana is doing fine, but it’s probably best that she doesn’t watch the video…or find out about the lube.
