NASCAR Drivers Say Joey Logano Is The Cheapest Guy In The Sport: “Stingiest Person Of The Group”

Some of the biggest stars of NASCAR recently aired out some dinner-tab-related grievances.

Like many other sports, there’s a lot of money to go around in stock car racing. Especially at the highest level, where drivers like Kyle Busch earn upwards of $15 million a year, and the top five drivers in the sport all make over $5 million. You’d assume that with salaries like that, picking up the tab at dinner wouldn’t be much of a concern.

But you know what they say about assumptions.

Thanks to this social media video posted by NASCAR, we know that a lot of the drivers in the sport are tight with their money, even though they are raking it in. The likes of Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin, and Austin Dillon (among others) sat down to answer some questions for social clips… and this picking-up-the-bill gave off more competitive than friendly vibes.

The first question that was asked was which driver would be most likely to pick up the tab at a group dinner. Answers varied, but the common theme was cheapness. Most of the drivers said or implied that you’d be on your own if you were out to dinner with NASCAR guys, and Denny Hamlin didn’t hold back with his hilarious answer:

“None of them. They’re all f***ing cheapskates.”

And funny enough, if a driver did give a name, they said Hamlin – the driver of the No. 11 car – would probably be the one to buy dinner. When the NASCAR social team informed Denny of that, he once again provided a comical, care-free answer:

“I know, because I’m nice, and they’re not.”

Tell us how you really feel, Mr. Hamlin.

One of the best parts of the video is undoubtedly Joey Logano saying that he’d probably be the one that picks up the tab out of the group. Ironically, the NASCAR group didn’t provide answers that supported how Logano felt. When everyone was asked who would be the least likely to pay the bill, almost every driver said Logano.

Austin Dillon couldn’t believe that Joey picked himself as the guy asking for the bill, and quickly set the record straight about the driver of the No. 22 car:

“He is not. He’s the stingiest person of the group.”

Love how unapolagetically himself Denny Hamlin was for that video.

I certainly hope that NASCAR continues to gather drivers together and ask them testy questions like this one. It makes for wonderful content, and it’s great to see all of the personalities of the guys. And it allows for fans to get a better understanding of how some of their favorite drivers operate.

If you call yourself a fan of Denny Hamlin, you’re probably happy to see that he’s seemingly the most giving guy in NASCAR. If you consider yourself a Joey Logano hater, the above video likely made you feel vindicated. Not only does he think he’s the one that would be most likely to foot the bill… all of his colleagues believe him to be the least likely.
