Not a great look for former President Joe Biden.
It seems like ages ago that Biden removed himself from the 2024 Presidential Race, does it not? You’ll likely remember that there was a ton of speculation that he would step aside instead of seeking a second term, as the Democrats became less and less confident that a declining Joe Biden could hang with former and current President Donald Trump.
Then when he finally did step down in late July, allowing for then Vice President Kamala Harris to run against Trump, the campaign seemed to be rushed and trudging uphill… with a mere three months to go before the election.
We all know how that turned out, as Donald Trump won in a landslide election, but we’re now getting an inside look as to what went into that decision for Joe Biden to step aside. A book written by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson titled Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover Up, And His Disastrous Choice To Run Again did a deep dive into Biden’s term as POTUS, and the physical and mental decline that occurred that was rarely covered – and more often challenged. Ironically, by the liberal media, CNN, and Jake Tapper himself.
According to the book, one of the real turning points of President Biden’s decision to not seek a second term came at a fund-raiser that was hosted be George Clooney. The 64-year-old movie star had organized the event, which was solely in support of Biden’s campaign to be re-elected. You probably remember that Clooney later wrote a scathing op-ed piece for The New York Times not even a month after that fundraiser, saying that Biden needed to step aside.
Original Sin claims that Clooney was worried about Biden from the very start of things, and that the president was hobbling and needed assistant getting around the fund-raiser:
“Biden hobbled out from around the corner. Clooney knew the president had just arrived from the G7 Leaders’ Summit in Apulia, Italy, that morning and might be tired, but hooooooooooly s***, he wasn’t expecting this. The president appeared severely diminished, as if he’d aged a decade since Clooney last saw him in December 2022. He was taking tiny steps and had an aide guiding him by his arm.”
The most worrying part came when Clooney – who is still one of the biggest movie stars in the world despite focusing on directorial projects in lieu of leading roles in recent years – tried to have a direct conversation with Biden. According to the book, the Hollywood star approached Biden, and the former president had to be reminded who George was… and Clooney was hosting the fund-raiser.
Some of the troubling dialogue that was allegedly shared between the two is featured in this excerpt from Original Sin below, and clearly painted a picture of President Biden not recognizing George Clooney, which apparently left the movie star and director feeling regretful and panicked:
“Clooney was shaken to his core. The President hadn’t recognized him, a man he had known for years. Clooney had expressed concern about Biden’s health before – a White House aide had told him a few months before that they were working on getting the President to take longer steps when he walked – but obviously the problem went far beyond his gait. This was much graver.”
How do you not recognize George Clooney? Especially if he’s the one that set the whole fund-raiser up?
Some were trying to give Biden the benefit of the doubt because of Clooney’s recent appearance change. Pictures of the Oceans 11 star’s hair being dyed jet-black have been startling to see as of late, though to be clear, he’s only ditched his typical silver fox look for the black dye in order to fulfill a role that he has.
And he’s only done so in the past couple of months…
Meaning that he looked as George Clooney as ever during the fund-raiser. In fact, here’s a picture that Joe Biden’s team posted on that very night of the fund-raiser. You can see Biden standing next to actress Julia Roberts, former President Barack Obama, and… who is that guy on the left? Oh yeah, George Clooney… that’s right:
All in all, it’s a concerning look into a Joe Biden that was still leading the United States of America at the time. And it’s probably more concerning that so many people close to the presidency, whether it be reporters, politicians or family members, were easily willing to gaslight the American people, repeatedly telling us that he was sharp as a tack. They knew better… it was all in plain sight.
It helps us better understand how George Clooney did a rather quick 180 when he went from supporting Biden as the next president to calling for him to step aside. And though the book is likely reporting what they know to be true (and what many of us could plainly see about his cognitive decline), it is still all alleged.
A spokesperson for Joe Biden told NBC News that the authors never tried to reach out to the Biden team… but considering the subject matter of Original Sin:
“We have not reviewed the book, and the authors did not fact-check the book with us, despite it being a common practice to do so. So we are not going to respond to every bit of this book they choose to release via select leaks in the reporters’ efforts to make a profit. We continue to await anything that shows where Joe Biden had to make a presidential decision or where national security was threatened or where he was unable to do his job. In fact, the evidence points to the opposite — he was a very effective president.”
I mean, we all saw him on The View recently, it makes that they didn’t…
