Oh, the drama…
Unless you live under a rock, you’ve probably seen that Zach Bryan and Barstool Sports personality Brianna Chickenfry broke up, because it’s all been extremely public.
This evening on the BFF’s podcast, which she co-hosts with Barstool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy and personality Josh Richards, she spilled a lot of the tea on what went down between her and Zach. She also dropped the bombshell that she was apparently offered $12 MILLION to sign and NDA and never talk about what really happened, but she ultimately decided to turn it down, and I have a ton of respect for her for that.
She talked a lot about his personality flaws and where a lot of their fights and disagreements came from, even saying that Zach got a tattoo of her (she didn’t say specifically what it was), after only three days of knowing her, which should’ve been the first red flag, but I digress…
Bri also said that Zach was upset about the dress she wore to the Golden Globes in January, and told her so directly (because it was so revealing, which he didn’t like), but at the same time, he was posting her Instagram photos on his own story saying how beautiful she was.
She looked incredible, I don’t think anyone can argue that:
If you’re into piping hot tea and gossip, you’ll probably enjoy the episode, but it certainly doesn’t make Zach look like the world’s best boyfriend. Of course, this is only one side of the story, and while I don’t expect him to get into any of the messy details, we have to remember that as we watch this mess unfold in front of us.
But one of the, ummm… funniest parts of the episode (for lack of a better word), was when Bri recalled an alleged fight they had over country music’s other mega star Morgan Wallen, who is currently dominating the entire genre, and music industry as a whole.
He had the highest-selling country tour of all-time this year with his One Night At A Time World Tour, and has been scoring #1 hits all year long on both country and Top 40 charts. While Zach is obviously a huge star right now too, absolutely no one is on Morgan’s level, even outside of country music.
And from what Bri said on the BFF’s podcast tonight, it sounds like that bothers Zach, which is fair to a certain extent, but he seemingly took it to an entirely new level, being upset Bri had Morgan’s smash hit “Last Night” stuck in her head one morning after scrolling past the song in a TikTok video…
She alleges that she walked up the stairs at their NYC apartment one morning singing a line from it, and it turned into “a fight for a week.” Bri recalled Zach telling her that he couldn’t believe she would be “singing another man’s song under my roof, in this house, that I own,” saying he “freaked the f*** out” over it:
“One morning, we were out the night before, and one morning I woke up and I was scrolling TikTok, and ‘Last night, we let the liquor talk,’ was stuck in my head.
And I walk up the stairs in the New York apartment, and I’m singing, I’m about to make breakfast or something like that… he freaked the f*** out. Like, freaked the f*** out. He could not believe, ‘You’re singing another man’s song under my roof, in this house, that I own.’ It was a fight for, I think, a week. It’s a Morgan Wallen song. I don’t know…”
Portnoy was a little confused about why Zach was bothered about that song in particular, wondering if there was specific beef between the two country stars he didn’t know about, but I think Josh summed it up perfectly, explaining:
“I think he really doesn’t like Morgan Wallen. I think he hates Morgan Wallen. I think he feels inferior to Morgan Wallen.”
Bri then also told the guys that she “wasn’t really allowed” to listen to wildly popular folk pop singer Noah Kahan either, who Zach previously called “a friend” after he missed one of the shows at Fenway Park that Noah headlined, where he supposedly going to be the “surprise guest”:
“I also, I was not really allowed to listen to Noah Kahan. I listened to him too much.”
They didn’t get too much into the weeds on it during this episode, but Bri pretty much said Zach missed that Fenway show because he was too “drunk,” which fans online suspected at the time. And to her credit, when the rumors started swirling, Bri still defended her man, and it sounds like that was a pattern throughout their relationship in terms of her consistently sticking up for him, even when she shouldn’t have, because she loved him.
Honestly, Zach getting upset that Bri was listening to Morgan, especially a song that was a massive crossover hit, feels especially wild… it was, and still is, everywhere… like, you can’t not hear it and it’s so damn catchy. I get that it might be annoying to a certain extent, I guess, because Zach and Morgan are obviously direct competitors in so many ways, but what an out of pocket reaction.
Plus, the fact that turned into a week-long fight… just beyond the pale, really.
Once again, this is obviously only one side of the story, but I found the whole episode really interesting (I shamelessly love a little hot gossip, I can’t lie… it’s not one of my best qualities), and you can watch full thing below.
It’s almost an hour and a half long, so you might wanna pour a tall glass of wine before you hit play too… that always makes it more fun in my humble opinion.
Now I have to leave you with this…
“Last Night”
Zach has also dropped a couple songs of his own this week, including one tonight at the start of the BFF’s pod called “High Road”:
He also put out “This World’s A Giant” yesterday:
