Got to have some fun while you’re out on the road.
Lainey Wilson is one of the best in the business right now. With her thick Louisiana drawl, electric stage presence, and securing brand deals left and right, Wilson is the poster child for what success in country music looks like. Although she was not handed this success overnight, she put in years of blood, sweat, and, I’m sure, quite a few tears to make her dreams come true.
And while it’s incredible to finally reach that goal that she’s been dreaming of all these years, moments like this make you glad that she hasn’t lost who she is at the core. Wilson decided to have fun with her crowd at a recent show in Arkansas.
Wilson is known for constantly engaging with her audience, talking to fans, interacting with them on social media, and calling out fans who brought signs into her shows. She also always goes out of her way to empower a young girl when possible, making her a role model for aspiring country singers and young cowgirls everywhere.
But sometimes, you need to bring a smile to your and your fans’ faces. During this Arkansas show, she brought a track off Whirlwind to life, dressing up as a chicken for “Counting Chickens.” Wilson waltzes out on the stage with an inflatable giant chicken suit on. With her body sticking half out of the costume, it appears that she is riding this chicken.
Given that the lyrics of this song highlight the sweet hopes of a future for a couple falling in love, wearing the costume during this song is hilarious. I mean, she does say in the lyrics that she’s already counting chickens, so at least she’s got one on stage with her.
“I’m already counting chickens pecking corn in our backyardHanging up a frame with both our names cross stitched in a heartMight be off my rocker dreaming ’bout a hilltop front porch viewBaby, maybe cart and horsing ain’t the smartest thing to do‘Cause they ain’t even hatched yet, but my eggs are in one basketAnd I’m loving counting chickens with you…”
Wilson is hard-working but also knows how to take a joke and crack one. We must protect her at all costs; she’s on her way to becoming a country legend.
