Another crossover hit in the making.
Over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, Morgan Wallen released his fan-favorite song “Lies Lies Lies,” which he previously debuted as part of his live Abbey Road Sessions that were recorded in London in Studio Two of the iconic Abbey Road Studios and posted on his Youtube in March.
Written by Jessie Jo Dillon, Josh Miller, Daniel Ross and Chris Tompkins, like pretty much everything he teases, fans were immediately begging Morgan to release the song and it’s already off to a very hot start.
And as of the first week of sales and numbers, the song debuted at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 (which encompasses all musical genres), and is quickly heading for the Top 5 and potentially even higher than that:

A few weeks ago, Morgan debuted at #1 on the Hot 100 chart with Post Malone and their duet “I Had Some Help,” and is still at #1 on the Mediabase and Country Airplay chart this week, making it a mega crossover hit and the song of the summer.
If Morgan can carry that momentum into this solo release, I don’t see why this won’t be his next #1 hit and a strong way to kick off an album when the time comes (he’s said that he’s been in the studio working on new music).
“Lies Lies Lies” finds Morgan trying to convince himself that he’s moved on from a past love before admitting that it was all just the “90 proof telling me lies, lies lies,” as he begs the girl to stay telling her there’s “nothing I wouldn’t do for you.”
Thematically, it’s right in his wheelhouse of getting over heartbreak, or wanting to find love again, and the production is very similar to the live session which I’m sure fans will certainly appreciate because it sounds almost exactly the same to the version they’ve already heard and love.
