If there was any doubt as to whether or not Post Malone was in his country era, an impromptu duet with Reba McEntire all but confirms it.
Reba, one of the many worthy queens of country music, has been a busy woman as of late. The 69-year-old artist had an album and book titled Not That Fancy release back in October, she currently serves as a judge on NBC’s The Voice, a new sitcom titled Happy’s Place is headed to NBC, and she hosted the 2024 ACM Awards last night.
To be honest, other than Jason Aldean’s stripped down “Should’ve Been A Cowboy” tribute to Toby Keith, Reba hosting was the main highlight of the Academy of Country Music Awards. Say what you want about McEntire, but at the end of the day, she’s an entertainer through and through.
And things got really entertaining when she joined in with pop-star-dabbling-in-country Post Malone after he played his songs “I Had Some Help” and “Never Love You Again.” Reba came out on stage and asked if he would be interested in helping her honor Dickey Betts, who passed away last month at the age of 80 following a battle with cancer.
The former Allman Brothers Band guitarist played a big role in the popularization of country music, so it was only right that he too got a tribute during the show. That came in the form of Reba McEntire and Post Malone singing an excerpt of the popular Allman Brothers song “Ramblin’ Man.”
To put things simply, it is the duet you had no idea you needed to hear. Now that I’ve heard it, I’d quickly sign up for an entire album of Reba and Posty harmonies… could we at least see one on Post Malone’s upcoming country album? We can hope.
But until then, we’ll just appreciate and put this clip on repeat:

He also performed another new song from his upcoming country project. Titled “Never Love You Again,” it’s packed with steel and fiddle.
