How quickly things change.
Last year during their Super Bowl run, New England Patriots fans found who they thought was a new hero in quarterback Drake Maye.
The UNC graduate was drafted third overall by the Patriots in 2024, and had a slow start to his career during his rookie season before returning in year two to lead the Patriots to a 14-3 record during the regular season and ultimately an AFC title that landed them in the Super Bowl.
Of course we all know what happened in the game between the Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, where Maye had three turnovers including two interceptions and a fumble while being dominated by the Seahawks defense en route to a 29-13 loss for the Patriots.
Throughout the magical run last season, not only did Patriots fans fall in love with Drake Maye, but they also found a new queen in his wife Ann Michael Maye.
Drake and Ann Michael have been dating since middle school and finally tied the knot earlier this year. And the First Lady of New England quickly became a star herself, thanks to her wholesome baking videos on TikTok and her “Bakemas” series, where she baked a new treat every day leading up to Christmas.

Patriots fans were all in on Bakemas, blowing up her videos and leaving plenty of comments about her husband:
“Drake is going to love this after his game”
“Please make sure Drake is in bed at an appropriate hour tonight so he is well rested for tomorrow”
“Drake “the only deserving MVP” Maye is so lucky to eat these sweet treats every day”
“Good call on the eggs make sure Drake gets his protein even when eating treats”
It was surprisingly wholesome, with all of the comments supporting Ann Michael and blowing up her baking content to the point that it became a topic of conversation in Patriots press conferences leading up to the Super Bowl.

But unfortunately, things aren’t going as well for Drake Maye and the Patriots this season.
On the heels of his disappointing performance in the Super Bowl, Maye has had a tough start to the 2026 season. The Patriots are currently 1-2, and Maye is sitting at a disappointing 63.8% completion percentage with one touchdown and six interceptions through 3 games.
Things are so bad that Maye was seen nearly on the verge of tears during his last game (in which he threw three interceptions) and being consoled by head coach Mike Vrabel on the sideline:
And of course, now fans are even taking to Ann Michael Maye’s comments to make their feelings about her husband known:

“Have fun celebrating being a Pats wife while you can, if bro keeps it up he’s gone”
