Fighting during “You Look Like You Love Me”? Come on, y’all…
Over the weekend, Riley Green continued on his Cowboy As It Gets Tour, playing a show at First Financial Credit Union Amphitheater in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which included an intersting moment as two fans got into a fight while Riley was performing “You Look Like You Love Me.”
He must’ve seen some commotion from the stage, as the fight seemed to take place pretty close to the front of the crowd, and he stopped the song to address it, saying he’d hoped he wouldn’t have to “whoop nobody’s a**” that night. I don’t think Riley’s the one anyone wants to get into a fight with, just saying…
Of course, he pointed out the obvious in how someone could fight like that during a love song, and told them they needed to split up:
“I was hoping I wouldn’t have to whoop nobody’s a** today… Hey, can I talk to y’all for a second? If everybody’s okay, why don’t y’all just split up. Y’all go stand somewhere else. How can you fight during a love song? It’s way too early.”
The rest of the fans started booing whoever was fighting, and Riley joked with the crowd that he thought he didn’t wear sleeves on his shirt, “nobody would try to fight.” He told them if they could just hold it together for 90 minutes while he played, everyone could go “beat the s*** out of each other” after the show:
“I was really feeling good, too, you know. Man, I thought if I didn’t wear sleeves on my shirt, nobody would try to fight tonight. I’ll tell y’all what, y’all just hold it together for a little while, we’ll play for about 90 minutes, and then we can all beat the s*** out of each other at the end of the night.”
For some reason, fights tend to break out relatively often as his shows, and they’re usually during songs like this.
Not long ago when Riley appeared on the This Past Weekend with Theo Von podcast, he talked about how he’s always caught off guard when fans starting fighting each other at his concerts… mainly because of the songs they choose to throw hands during:
“It’s always girls. Girl fights are always way more serious than guy fights. And I’m always surprised too at the song they get in a fight during. There’s been a couple videos I’ve seen of people getting in a fight during ‘I Wish Grandpas Never Died.’ Or I’ve got a song called ‘Jesus Saves.’
I’m like… how do you emotionally go to (trading) blows?”
How could you fight another person when “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” or “Jesus Saves” comes on? And now “You Look Like You Love Me” too? I don’t understand…
As I’ve said before on previous posts about fights at Riley’s concerts, I think everyone’s better off if we just stick to throwing bras…

Speaking of his sleeveless shirt, Riley paid tribute to the late, great Dolly Parton during that same show and I’m here for it:
Riley still has quite a few dates left on this tour, and his new album That’s Just Me is set for release this Friday, September 18th, before he makes his debut as a judge on The Voice on Monday, September 21st at 8 p.m. ET.
