Gary LeVox Reacts To Witness In Lindsay Clancy Trial Saying He’s Never Heard Of Rascal Flatts

The one person in the world who’s never heard of Rascal Flatts, and he happens to be a witness in the most high-profile trial in the country right now.

By now I’m sure you’ve heard of Lindsay Clancy, the Massachusetts woman who’s currently on trial for murdering her three children.

Clancy has admitted to strangling her three children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan, back in 2023. She also attempted suicide before being found by her husband, Patrick Clancy, who was not at home at the time of the murders.

But her defense team has claimed that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and bipolar depression, and was experiencing auditory hallucinations that compelled her to kill her children, and has argued that Clancy should be found not guilty by reason of insanity. She has also filed a civil lawsuit against several of her doctors, claiming that as a result of their negligence in treating her mental issues, “Lindsay now faces a lifetime of physical disability, psychological trauma, and the unbearable grief of waking up every day knowing she killed her children.”

It’s a tragic case.

It’s also a case that’s dominated and deeply divided social media, with many believing that she should be in prison while many others see it as a failure to properly address women’s health and postpartum depression. (There are also some people who, despite all the evidence, and Clancy admitting under oath that she killed her children, and her defense attorney admitting she killed her children, and the police investigation finding that she killed her children, STILL don’t think she killed her children, because apparently a TikToker watching the trial knows better than everybody involved who’s seen ALL of the evidence and not just what the parties wanted to present at trial. It’s insane).

But anyway, that’s not what we’re here to talk about. Through the heartbreaking trial, there was a lighthearted clip that went viral showing a moment when Clancy’s defense attorney Kevin Reddington was questioning a witness.

As Reddington was cross-examining Dr. Kirk Heilbrun, a psychologist who interviewed Clancy about her auditory hallucinations, he was attempting to establish that his client was a “good mother.” The lawyer asked Heilbrun whether he knew that Clancy would sing to her children every night, and in a lawyer’s typical courtroom style, attempted to bring up one of the artists whose songs Clancy would sing:

“You know Rascal Flatts?”

The psychologist was confused by the question:

“I’m sorry?”

Reddington repeated again:

“Rascal Flatts, you ever heard of them?”

Heilbrun was still confused, confirming that he’d never heard of Rascal Flatts. And the awkward exchange quickly began going viral on social media, even catching the attention of Rascal Flatts lead singer Gary LeVox himself.

LeVox took to TikTok to share the exchange, looking shocked while commenting on the witness’s ignorance of his band:

“U know he lying”

Now, as you can imagine, the comments on his post were as divided and toxic as the rest of the discourse surrounding the trial, so I’m not going to even get into the reactions to his post. But the moment did provide a brief moment of levity in an otherwise heartbreaking case.
