A very fitting tribute for 8/18.

It’s been nearly three months now since NASCAR legend Kyle Busch sadly passed away at the age of 41, on May 21st, 2026, due to pneumonia that progressed into sepsis. It was very sudden, and he left behind his wife, Samantha, and two children, Brexton (11) and Lennix (4), as well as his parents and fellow race car driver in his brother, Kurt Busch.

It’s just so incredibly sad, and my thoughts and prayers continue to go out to his family who have experienced such a devastating tragedy. Samantha has shared quite a few posts online since his passing, mostly thanking fans for all of their support and today, she marked 8/18 as Kyle Busch day, because he drove the No. 18 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing before moving to the No. 8 car at Richard Childress Racing, with a touching post.

She explained that there was so much more to him than what the world got to see through his job, and she wants today to be a day to celebrate “all of Kyle,” including the things that the world loved, but also the things that made her and their two children so lucky to have him:

“Today, on 8/18, we celebrate Kyle Busch Day. The world knew Rowdy, the champion, the competitor, the bow and that unmistakable personality. But I was lucky enough to know every side of Kyle, especially the ones the world didn’t always get to see.

How do you take almost 20 years of loving someone and somehow capture what made them them in eight slides? You can’t. There are a million little things that made Kyle who he was and those little things are what I find myself missing the most.

So today, I hope we celebrate all of Kyle. The things that made the world love him and the things that made the kids and I so incredibly lucky to call him ours.

There will never be another Rowdy but more than anything there will never be another Kyle. My best friend, my other half, the daddy to our babies and the person I thought I would grow old beside. I love you and miss every single piece of you.”

Samantha has show incredible strength throughout all of this tragedy, and she’s been pretty transparent about how hard it’s been for her to lose a husband and the father to her two young children. It’s commendable, and as a way to once again honor her husband today, Samantha shared eight things that made Kyle who he is, going in depth on so many aspects of who he was as both a driver and a person:

“My husband, my best friend, my person. Their daddy. The competitor. Unapologetically Kyle. A dremer & a builder. The side of him only I got. A coach, a mentor and a doer. One of one.”

She went into detail under each photo, and it’s well worth a read on Kyle Busch Day:
