Who do they think their audience is?
I’ll be honest, I don’t really watch the NBA so I didn’t know that schedule release videos were a thing over there. I know they’ve become a big deal in the NFL over the past couple years, but apparently NBA teams are doing them too now?
Well it might be time for them to stop, because after this cringeworthy schedule release video from the Toronto Raptors, I think the entire concept of schedule release videos may have jumped the shark.
To unveil their 2026-27 schedule, the Raptors decided to call up content creators Jaclyn Forbes and Jasmine Alisha (I call them content creators because even after researching them I’m still not sure what they do) to host a “gossip podcast” style video discussing the NBA team’s schedule. And let me tell you, it’s a tough watch.
Here are just a couple of gems from the video:
“So this season’s Golden Bachelor is LeBron.” “Older, experienced, he’s looking for one last meaningful connection.” “After making all the NBA wait, narrowing it down to just four teams?” “Literally had us refreshing our feed all summer.” “So Philadelphia, will you accept this final rose?”
Yeah, it’s a TOUGH watch.
I’m not sure who the target audience for the video was supposed to be, but it seems that it hasn’t found its way to them yet because everybody on social media is just roasting the Raptors all to hell:

Yeah, it’s that bad.
Of course, maybe that was the goal and the whole thing was supposed to be engagement bait because of how bad it is. I know there’s no way I would be writing about the Toronto Raptors (or even thinking about them) if it wasn’t for this monstrosity. So if that’s the case, then brilliant move by the team.
But it feels like they’re trying to pander to female fans, and instead they’re inadvertently insulting them by implying that they only care about the gossip and not the actual basketball.
Either way, major swing and a miss by the Raptors.
