Garth Brooks can’t wait to get back in front of the country music fans in Chicago.
He’s set to return to Allstate Arena on September 11 and 12 (more on that in a bit), and when he does, it’ll be a very emotional moment for the country music superstar. Why’s that? Well, the “Windy City” was there for him during a challenging time in his career.
When Brooks was gearing up for his Comeback Tour in 2014, he had laid out five concerts in Dublin, Ireland, and couldn’t wait to get back to filling stadiums. However, all of the licenses for the shows were denied, and they ended up being canceled (more than 400,000 tickets were refunded).
As Trisha Yearwood told GarthBrooks.com (the only place where Garth releases news nowadays), having the licenses denied almost broke Garth:
“It was like a death in the family. He took that hard… everyone did.”
Brooks’ great and highly-anticipated Comeback Tour had hit a roadblock before it even really got started. Instead of giving up though, Garth scrambled to find another city that would work for his first set of shows in over a decade. That city ended up being Chicago.
Yearwood says once the run of replacement shows in Chicago were scheduled – and basically saved the day – the “Friends In Low Places” singer was back to himself again:
“That was when the life came back into our house. Call me dramatic, Chicago saved Garth and that tour.”
So it only makes sense that Garth head back to the city that means so much to him in what is somewhat of a comeback tour in 2026. Last month, he officially announced his new arena tour – The Blame It All On My Roots Arena Tour – and in typical Garth fashion he’s announcing the stops on the tour one at a time.
The tour will kick off in Indianapolis, Indiana, with two nights originally being scheduled at Gainbridge Fieldhouse before an additional two shows were announced due to overwhelming demand. (Garth said that there were 400,000 people in the Ticketmaster queue when the original shows went on sale).
The second stop was announced late last month when Garth revealed that he would be taking the tour to Denver for two nights at Ball Arena, and just like Indiana, two more shows were quickly added. Then earlier this week, Garth announced the third stop on the tour will be Chicago, with two nights at Allstate Arena on September 11 and 12.
The shows at Allstate Arena are sure to be packed with extra emotion for Garth Brooks.
It was there where he played 11-straight-shows to kick off his 2014 Comeback Tour. And Brooks actually holds the record at Allstate Arena for most concerts at a venue by a single artist. He’s played there 23 separate times, and that number will creep up by a couple more next month.
Garth said on his website that he owes a lot to Chicago, and can’t wait to let the fans witness that gratitude on stage:
“I owe that city; we all do on this team. I can’t wait to get there to show the people of Chicago our gratitude and how much we love them.”
Tickets for his Chicago concert dates go on sale tomorrow (August 7) at 10 AM CST. Be on the lookout for additional shows to be added… that’s happened at every tour stop thus far.
