Reunited.
Earlier this year, Riley Green made his acting debut on Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone spinoff series, Marshals, appearing in four episodes alongside Luke Grimes back in April.
The country star played the role of Garrett, a former Navy SEAL who served alongside Kayce Dutton who shows up unexpectedly at the Dutton Ranch. During his four-episode story arc, Garrett (who uses music to battle PTSD from his military service) charms a woman named Andrea, played by Ash Santos, with a performance of “My Way.” The two develop a love interest, but their romance was cut short after Garrett ultimately passes away due to injuries sustained in a barn fire on the ranch.
While his time on the show was short-lived, it appears that his friendship with his fellow cast members continues on after his character’s untimely death.
Riley is currently on the road for his Cowboy As It Gets Tour, which made a stop last week at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City. And Santos, who played his love interest on Marshals, was on hand for the show.
Santos shared videos from backstage as she watched Green perform at his day (night?) job:

And later in the show, Green even invited his co-star on stage for a shot of his Duck Club Bourbon.
Seems like the two enjoyed their time working together, with Santos speaking to PEOPLE about Green’s time on the show:
“He joked, he was like, ‘Damn, I was really hoping I’d stick around longer,’ and we were like, ‘With your schedule? You’re always at some concert.'”
And she also revealed that one group in particular was especially sad to see his character make an early exit:
“Our hair-and-makeup team, especially, those women LOVED him… We had people on our crew who were so upset with (showrunner) Spencer (Hudnut) for weeks when they got that episode.”
Still, his co-star had nothing but kind words for Riley after getting to work with him, however briefly:
“He’s very sweet. He was so kind to our cast and our crew. I mean, the day that he wrapped, he was flying out — he was performing in a show that night — and while he was getting in the car, he was already having flowers delivered for the hair-and-makeup team to say thank you. …
I think when you’re an artist, you are so in tune in that way creatively that it makes it easy to pivot into something else. And then when you’re a singer, you’re telling stories all the time with your songs… It was easy for him, and it definitely showed on screen. He has a natural ability. He’s just so fun.”
While he admitted that the logistics of filming while also balancing his career as a country star made things challenging, Riley has also said that he’s interested in future acting opportunities on down the road:
“I would really enjoy being able to go and get on set and kind of get into that world and stay there. And just be an actor for a little while. I think that’d be something I’d really enjoy.”
Who knows, maybe Santos and Green will have the opportunity to work together again. But for now, taking shots on stage seems like a pretty good time too.
