She’s a gem.
Lainey Wilson released a documentary in partnership with Netflix called Lainey Wilson: Keepin’ Country Cool several months ago, which will give fans an intimate look at her life as she juggles being a country music superstar with everything else she has going on outside of that.
And one of her fan accounts shared a touching clip from the film on TikTok, which shows Lainey during a very emotional moment after a show with a fan who was going through an incredibly hard time with her family.
In the clip, you see Lainey’s photographer, Erick, come backstage and tell him about an interaction he had with some fans during the show. Someone had gotten his attention to take some photos of a mom and daughter who were at the concert, and he came to find out that the mom had just found out she had stage four cancer and didn’t have much longer to live.
Unbeknownst to her at the time, Lainey ended up picking the little girl to be her cowgirl of the night, which is something she’s been doing at her shows for a while now. She brings a little girl from the crowd up with her to the stage, introduces them to everyone, and gifts the fan with a Lainey Wilson-styled cowgirl hat to match one of hers.
It’s really sweet, and in addition to all of that, she’ll have them recite her mantra to the crowd like so:
“I am beautiful. I am smart. I am talented. I can do anything. I am Cowgirl of the Night!”
Lainey’s team managed to find them after the show and bring them back to spend some time with Lainey, and when Erick showed Lainey the photo of the mom and daughter, Lainey had tears in her eyes as she looked at it, saying
“Gosh, thinking back on it I’m like, she’s not going to have her mama there to tell her that’s she’s beautiful and smart and talented and all of those things. It’s just… ugh.”
It’s just heartbreaking and so beyond sad. I don’t know how else to put it.
“I’m so glad that you got to get up there. I’m so glad you got to get up there, girl. Can I just say a little prayer over y’all tonight?
Lord Jesus, coming to you right now, Father. And I just pray for peace, just a peace that only comes from You, God. I pray for healing. I pray that you just wrap this family in your loving arms, God. We love you, in Your Holy and precious name I pray. Amen.”
It’s these kinds of moments that make country music so special, and Lainey is one of the absolute best of the best.
