She’s back.
This morning, Lainey Wilson served as the celebrity guest picker for the Week 1 of ESPN’s College GameDay, as the season-opening broadcast took place live from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, ahead of the highly anticipated matchup between the LSU Tigers and the Clemson Tigers.
Of course, Lainey is a Louisiana girl, and she was decked out in her purple and gold, and during the show, it was also revealed that Lainey will be hosting the 60th Annual CMA Awards, marking her third consecutive year in the role and second consecutive year as solo host.
Lainey is a 12-time CMA Award winner, and this years CMA Award show will take place at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 8/7c on ABC, Disney+ and will be available next day on Hulu.
Lainey pointed out that it’s been a huge last few years for country music, and she’s looking forward to celebrating everyone:
“Celebrating country music, the best genre in the world. I’m excited to celebrate my friends, it’s been a huge few years for country music. It’s gonna be a party, so hopefully everybody tunes in.”
She added that it’s even more special being the 60th anniversary:
“I couldn’t be more excited to be hosting the CMA Awards again this year, especially with it being the 60th anniversary. I’ve had so much fun hosting the last two years, and this one’s going to be extra special. Can’t wait to see y’all in November!”
The nominees for this year will be revealed soon, on Thursday, September 10th.
Lainey certainly has the personality for it, and she’s done a great job the last couple of years, and I’m sure this time will be no different.
For her picks on Game Day, Lainey said a few days ago she had some help from her husband Duck Hodges, as he played college football for the Samford Bulldogs, and then had himself a nice little stint in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wilson told Pat McAfee that he’s been helping her prepare:
“Duck is helping me out. I’ve been doing my studying. I have been going to the Lord. Honestly, I have been pulling up some stats. I was with Duck and Hardy last night and they were giving me some of their opinions. So I’m doing my research. I’m gonna have my own thoughts, and my own picks.”
