Landman star Ali Larter is one of many actors and actresses who have ditched Hollywood to live calmer lifestyles elsewhere in the United States, and the spot that 50-year-old found and fell in love with is Sun Valley, Idaho.
As Larter grew tired of the hustle and bustle of living in Los Angeles, she thought more and more about leaving the “City of Stars.” In a way, that’s a shame, because she’s a natural scene stealer. Whether it be one her very early roles in Varsity Blues (TV fanatics went wild when they made that connection), or in her role as Angela in Landman, she has a knack for creating memorable moments in whatever she’s a part of.
It’s actually hard to imagine anyone else other than Ali Larter in the role of Angela.
She’s previously voiced how grateful she is to have gotten the part in the show, and Taylor Sheridan basically pulled her out of retirement to join the likes of Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore in the oil drama. To be clear, Larter wasn’t giving up on acting entirely… but she had gotten to the point in her life where she didn’t want to force anything.
Sheridan said that Ali Larter was actually out of Hollywood when she landed her role in the hit show:
“Ali Larter was essentially out of the business. She was living up in Sun Valley, Idaho and she put herself on tape and sent it to me (for ‘Landman’). I’ve known Ali since she was 19 years old. She put herself on tape and beat out the world…
She’s special. She’s amazing. It’s so easy to write it for her because she’s that. She’s going to say exactly what she thinks. She beat out movie stars. She beat out movie stars who don’t audition… she kicked everyone’s a**.”
Sounds like Ali Larter and Taylor Sheridan were both in agreement… she was meant to play Angela in Landman.
That being said, the actress was very comfortable moving to Sun Valley, Idaho and leaving the world of acting behind. And when she’s not shooting the hit Paramount+ series, she’s spending time with her family at their peaceful, Idaho oasis. During the Newport Beach TV Fest, she told Fox News Digital that family life looks a whole lot different than it used to:
“Well, it’s totally different, so we can’t really get our kids to hike anymore. They don’t want to do that. But I can get them to take a bike ride and then do, like, a little cold plunge in the river.
We love to barbecue at our house. We love to play with our dogs. My daughter will probably play some volleyball. We’ll go to Leroy’s and get an ice cream cone.”
That sound a whole lot like the American dream right there.
In Larter’s opinion, it’s a much simpler and happier life. She’s grateful to call Idaho home, and feels as though the days are longer than when she and her loved ones lived out in California:
“It’s just kind of simpler, and the days are really long. The sun’s out till like 10 at night now, so it’s been really beautiful to kind of have the kids out of school and enjoy the time with them.”
And from the looks of where Ali Larter calls home in Idaho, calling it “really beautiful” might actually be an understatement. Her and her family are loving their lives outside of Hollywood, and you can’t really blame them for wanting a slower-paced life.
Sun Valley, Idaho seems like the perfect place to achieve that.
