It’s not exactly a secret that delivery people tend to be pretty afraid of dogs. Call it an occupational hazard if you want, but going to a hundred houses a day, rain or shine, battling whatever they got going on in their yard isn’t exactly for the faint of heart. But their worst nightmare is always an aggressive dog.
In this latest example going viral, a UPS driver is walking up a driveway with a fairly large package when a dog comes running towards him at full bore. It’s not exactly a big dog, but not a small dog either, and I’d say that it was barking pretty aggressively.
Clearly, not wanting to get bit, and probably already fed up with the nature of the work, the UPS driver just heaves the package right at the dog, which absolutely works to send the dog packing in the opposite direction. But that is only half the story… in a bizarre turn of events, the angry owner comes out and wants to know why the driver thew the package at the dog:
“Are you f**** kidding me? Why are you throwing s*** at my f***** dog? Are you serious? He didn’t f**** bite you.”
To be fair, he wasn’t given the chance to bite because he got smoked by a box. Meanwhile, he’s still barking pretty aggressively throughout the confrontation. But the driver doesn’t miss a beat, drops his sunglasses and his hat and puts up the dukes, ready to throw hands with the angry owner:
“You trying to hit me, you coming at me right now? He was coming right at me, son. Back the f*** up.”
Just pure chaos… check it out:
The video has gone mega viral, and has the internet completely divided.
On team UPS driver, people argued that the owner should have their aggressive dog chained up or in the house if they’re expecting packages. Although, since the man comes from the side, he might actually be the neighbor and not the guy getting the package. But more or less irrelevant. Given the way the dog was coming at the driver, a lot of folks thought he was well within his right to protect himself.
I’m with the delivery man. You should lock your wild pet if you know you are expecting a stranger in your house.

The people in the comments acting like the driver committed murder, are the problem with our society today. You people prioritize an animal over a human being. You will rather let a dog attack and hurt someone than the person defending their lives.
This UPS driver was far more…

100% with the delivery driver. Can’t risk getting bitten by a dog

People saying the driver is wrong are genuinely insane

On the other hand, people were calling for the driver to be suspended, fired, and in some extreme cases… shot. A frightening amount of talk about carrying or guns, which I’m all for carrying and owning a firearm, but shooting someone over this? Bro… come on.
Wtf, he deserves to be fired and prosecuted. If you can’t handle dogs, you can’t be a mail driver

His truck would’ve been found in a tree 3 counties over.
I dare a living sole to touch my dog. I will die for that pup.

I would have whooped his ass six ways to Sunday, and that’s IF I was calm & collected enough after witnessing the assault on my dog, as chances are, I wouldn’t be, and I’d ABSOLUTELY draw on him. The nerve of that absolute retard, coming into SOMEONE ELSE’S yard like that. Idiot.

I would have 🔫him 🪦and probably gotten off when my lawyer picked the right jury members who are all dog lovers.

You ever notice this doesn’t happen often in states/area where people often carry guns? 😂

It is cruel to treat a dog 🐕 this way. The driver had intention of killing the dog. pic.twitter.com/xObyd89mJz

Me personally, I have a mixed reaction. I think the driver was perfectly within his right to throw the box at the charging dog. But the second he squared up to the owner, who was angry, but not violent, he kind of lost me. He clearly deals with this a lot, and it was the last straw, but I don’t think my first reaction would be to fight the guy… I’d probably apologize for throwing it, but tell him to keep his crazy dog chained up. If he wants to fight after that, all bets are off… but to initiate is out of line to me. That quick of a fuse while you’re on the job? Maybe find a new line of work.
But hey, it’s easy to Monday morning quarterback when you’re just watching it on the Ring cam…
What do you think?
