‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff, ‘Dutton Ranch,’ Officially Renewed For Season 2

Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler will be back for more… Dutton Ranch has officially been renewed for Season 2.

Is that a surprise? Not exactly. But is it great to get official word on the renewal? You bet. Fans of the flagship Yellowstone series had been chomping at the bit to see Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser reprise their roles as Beth and Rip ahead of the premiere of Season 1 of Dutton Ranch.

That was especially true after the show was described as “Yellowstone Season 6,” leading up to its debut back in May.

Describing it as such was evidently all it took to get droves of fans to tune in. After the two-episode series premiere, Paramount+ shared that the Beth and Rip-focused spinoff drew in a staggering 12.9 million viewers in its first week, which was enough to hand Dutton Ranch the title of “Biggest Series Launch” in the history of Paramount+

And where there are record-breaking ratings, there’s money… so it was probably safe to say Dutton Ranch was getting a second season right then and there. But Paramount waited a while to make the official announcement, and now with two episodes left in Season 1, they rolled out the exciting news that Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler have even more stories to tell:

“We’re just getting started. ‘Dutton Ranch’ has been renewed for Season 2!”

Just getting started, eh? You love to hear that.

The higher ups at Paramount know they’ve got a hit on their hands, and they were excited to provide some comments on the renewal of the latest Yellowstone spinoff.

Jane Wiseman, the Head of Originals for Paramount+, called Reilly and Hauser’s characters iconic as she commented on continuing their story:

“Beth and Rip are among the most iconic duos in television history and we are thrilled to bring a whole new world to life with Dutton Ranch for our subscribers around the world. We’re also incredibly grateful to our partners, including the teams at Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, for bringing this new series to life with such grit, heart and authenticity.”

And Matt Thunell, the President of Paramount Television Studios, pointed out that Dutton Ranch has already established its own identity with Season 1, and they look forward to doing the same with Season 2:

“Dutton Ranch has resonated with audiences in a powerful way, building on the legacy of beloved characters, while establishing its own identity. Thank you to our partners at Paramount+ and 101 Studios for a phenomenal first season. We look forward to bringing fans more stories from these unforgettable characters in Season two.”

Like I said earlier, there’s still two new episodes to hit the streaming service this Friday and next Friday, in addition to airing on the Paramount Network at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Dutton Ranch will air it’s season finale on July 3rd.

No need to panic though… Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser will return (as will the rest of the cast… as long as they make it out of Season 1 alive), and shows within the Taylor Sheridan Universe tend to have rather quick turnarounds from one season to the next.
