Nothing short of a streaming giant.
Though Ella Langley has been nothing short of dominant the past year, it’s hard to imagine an artist having a better five-year stretch than Morgan Wallen has had lately. Riding the highs of his fourth studio album, I’m The Problem, the Tennessee native broke all sorts of records in 2025. In addition to dethroning Garth Brooks and becoming the highest-selling country artist of all time (3rd all-genre), Wallen also scored the most-listened-to album on Apple Music globally, the #1 most-listened-to album in the U.S. on Spotify and became the second male country artist in history to be named Billboard’s Top Artist of the Year, beating out the likes of Drake, Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Bad Bunny and more.
It’s no secret that Wallen has been nothing short of a monster on the charts lately. However, his pure streaming numbers may be even more impressive. Last year, he made history by passing the likes of Zach Bryan and Luke Combs and becoming the first and only country artist to have three songs pass the one billion-stream threshold on Spotify. These, of course, include his two smash hits, “Last Night” and “Whiskey Glasses,” as well as his feature on Post Malone’s all-genre Billboard Hot 100 #1, “I Had Some Help.”
After becoming the first country artist in history to score over 30 BILLION streams across his discography last month, Wallen is back at it with another major accomplishment on the streaming platform. Today, “Wasted On You” extended his record and became his fourth song to cross over one billion streams. In turn, it is now the 16th country song in history to join Spotify’s billions club.
“Wasted On You” was the fourth and final single from Wallen’s 2021 breakout record, Dangerous: The Double Album. Written by Wallen, along with frequent collaborators, Ernest, Josh Thompson and Ryan Vojtesak, the track was released on March 7, 2022, and quickly went #1 on both Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts.
Additionally, “Wasted On You” allowed Wallen to make history by becoming the first artist ever to chart six songs within the top ten of Hot Country Songs at the same time and recently became one of his record four RIAA-certified Diamond records back in December.
Diving into the numbers, the track actually has a lower daily average compared to his other billion-stream songs. Since its release in March of 2022, it’s averaged approximately 263,290 streams daily. While still quite good, other, newer tracks such as “I Had Some Help,” “Last Night” and “Cowgirls” have outpaced the song so far.
As for Wallen’s next billion-stream track, “You Proof,” which also appears on Dangerous, will more than likely reach it in the coming months, currently sitting at 960 million streams as of today.
