Divine intervention brought a Luke Bryan concert to a farm in Elk Grove, California.
The country music singer and American Idol judge embarked on his 17th Farm Tour earlier this year. Bryan started the annual event in 2009, and through it, he’s helped provide 90 college scholarships to children of farming families and over 10 million meals to those in need.
His latest run of Farm Tour dates were in California, and took place in the cities of Shafter, Clovis and Elk Grove. That last date was held on a farm that’s owned by a fourth-generation rancher named Tom Mahon, and how he ended up hosting the event is quite the story.
Some might even go as far as saying that it’s only something that the Good Lord above could have orchestrated.
Mahon normally uses his ranch solely for cattle, focusing on beef production while also producing hay. That was until this year, when his California farmland transformed into a concert venue, as Mahon explained to WKRC:
“We’ve also kind of branched out a little bit into entertainment. I got this random phone call asking if we would like to have a Luke Bryan concert here and I said, ‘Yeah.'”
Thought that might seem like an out of the blue offer for the life long farmer to accept, it was one of the easiest yes’s of Tom Mahon’s life.
That’s because it was one of his late wife Cindy’s dreams to host a country music concert on their property. She passed away last September, and around two weeks before she died, she told her husband that she thought it would be really cool if their farm was utilized for some sort of western, country concert or festival.
That dream came true this past weekend:

The craziest part about the story? According to Tom Mahon, he wasn’t the one that reached out to Luke Bryan’s team to have the Farm Tour stop on his California property. In fact, it was the country music star’s team that reached out to him, and they were fully unaware that one of the last wishes of Cindy Mahon’s life was to host a concert.
Believe it or not, it all happened as pure coincidence. Mahon firmly believes that it all played out thanks to his wife:
“Got to believe that she had something to do with this.”
