Been sitting on this one for a minute.
Back in February, Ryan Bingham announced a brand new record, They Call Us The Lucky Ones, which will be out on May 15. This will be the “Southside of Heaven” singer’s first full-length LP in seven years, which has fans itching to know what’s in store.
His most recent project, 2023’s Watch Out for the Wolf, was a 7-song creative departure from his usual sound. Not a concept record per se, but the album was an unplanned project born out of a mushroom trip in a cabin in the Montana wilderness, then written and recorded on the spot.
Bingham has been rather busy in his personal life since then, marrying Yellowstone co-star Hassie Harrison in October of 2023, and she has been a creative muse for him as he’s been writing for this project. Of course, the two met on the set of the hit series Yellowstone, where Bingham played a ranch hand named Walker, and Harrison played a barrel racer named Laramie.
For this upcoming project, Bingham explained that this was “the most fun” he’s ever had making an album, and I have to imagine that has an awful lot to do with how happy he is in his personal life:
“This album was probably the most fun I’ve had making a record. I’ve always loved records that feel loose and live and gritty with a bit of soul, where the imperfections from the moment are left in.
Working with musicians as talented as The Texas Gentlemen really let us lean into that in a way I hadn’t experienced before. There was an unspoken understanding between us about what each song needed, so we tracked most of it live with minimal overdubs, just playing and letting the feel lead. It finally felt like I was capturing these songs the way I always heard them in my head. We can’t wait to get out on the road and share them with fans.”
Bingham recently dropped a soulful single from the forthcoming record, “Blue Skies.” The tune is a heartfelt love song, dedicated to a love unlike anything you’ve experienced before.

Recently, Bingham shared a clip of himself and the woman he feels this way about on his social media account. The tender video shows the two lovers tangled up on a couch while Bingham strums the single’s tune on his guitar. As the two giddily sing the lyrics, it’s evident how happy Bingham is in his personal life, and it makes me even more excited to hear what love songs he has in store for fans on this LP.
With the clip dated 2023, these two lovebirds have been in their honeymoon phase for quite some time now, and it warms your heart to see.

When “Blue Skies” was released, the official music video features footage from the Jeff Nichols-directed short film, Love Letter to Texas, which debuted at SXSW this year. The film stars Bingham alongside talented actor Michael Shannon, and Bingham’s wife and Yellowstone co-star, Hassie Harrison, with narration from Sissy Spacek.
