WATCH: Mother Bear Has One Heck Of A Time Trying To Wrangle Her Two Cubs In North Carolina

Black bear mama

Have you ever seen a mother bear suffer from a cub-induced headache? If you haven’t, it’s your lucky day.

It’s a momma bear’s duty to raise her young until they are able to fend for themselves out in nature. That process usually takes around one to two years, and obviously looks different from sow to sow. It also depends on how quickly cubs can learn to make it on their own… and something tells me these two little ones will be a little bit behind the curve.

It’s estimated that around 400,000 bears live in the United States, and in certain parts of the country, residents have to always be on alert and keep an eye out for bears. Black bears make up most of that total number (around 300,000), and one place where you are likely to see them is in North Carolina.

This rather comical footage was taken in Asheville, North Carolina by Kristina Rupp. She was able to witness this mother bear trying her darnedest to wrangler her cubs firsthand, and got it on camera for the rest of us to enjoy. Hundreds of thousands of people have since seen the video… which basically just depicts motherhood in a nutshell.

The black bear mother was just trying to be protective as her two kiddos were playing in and around a fence that appears to be by a roadway. Her mama bear senses were tingling with all of the potential danger around, so she decided that she was going to take her cubs and move them somewhere else.

That ended up being easier said than done.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again and expecting different results. I don’t want to call this mother bear insane, but she was basically in a time loop with her two cubs. She’d pick one of them up, drop them off and away from the fence, and then go back to get the other.

So what was the issue? After the cubs were plopped down, they’d go right back to where they were originally. So as she grabbed one, the other cub went behind her back and moved itself right where the sow didn’t want them. It made for a comical video that could only be made better if some zany, old-timey black-and-white-movie-music was overlaid on it.

It also led WLOS 13 to this caption:

“Motherhood has its challenges, no matter the species.”

You can’t help but feel for that mother bear. All you can do is applaud her patience… and hope that her cubs get with the program sooner rather than later.

Social media users that came across the clip were rather amused, but they also can recognize a tired mom when they see one. One of the comments even referenced the theme song/hit song to Reba’s long-running sitcom:

“You can tell she is tired of their s**t.”

“I’m exhausted just watching.”

“The struggle is real.”

“Exactly what it’s like being a mother.”

“’A single mom who works two jobs, who loves her kids and never stops.'”

“I think every mother can relate to this.”
