Only Theo Von could make this story sound so wild.
Ella Langley’s highly-anticipated album Dandelion is dropping this Friday, April 10th, and her latest single “Choosin’ Texas” is already the biggest song of her career, and is on its way to becoming the biggest song of 2026 in ANY genre.
I think the entire album is going to be massive, and during an appearance on This Past Weekend with Theo Von this week, Ella talked about the music, her journey in music thus far and how her career has absolutely taken off over the last year or so.
And she also talked about her life growing up, and she told Theo she was homeschooled for a lot of her elementary school years because she couldn’t pay attention in class, which also led her to talk about her eye condition and how she had multiple eye surgeries growing up, saying she would be “cross-eyed” sometimes:
“I had a bunch of eye surgeries when I was young, for the muscles in my eyes. Sometimes I would just be a little cross-eyed… but then I had some surgeries, and the teacher was like, she just is not paying attention in here. So, homeschooled until 6th grade, in the 7th grade, went back to the same high school my dad went to, graduated with 32 kids.”
Ella went onto explain that she had another surgery pretty recently, in the last several years, and said it was “brutal.” She told Theo they have to “take your eyeballs out” to do it, which of course shocked him, and though she didn’t know exactly what it was called, it sounds like it could strabismus surgery, which is not uncommon for children who are cross-eyed and need a little extra help:
“The doctor described it to me, I just had another one like two, maybe three years ago, and it’s kind of brutal, honestly. They have to take your eyeballs out. I swear. They’ve gotta get in there. It’s crazy.
But she described it to me like horse and carriage, you know, when you have two horses, one can’t be going this way and one can’t be going this way. It’s not gonna work, so they’ve gotta learn to work together. Mine just never did… sometimes they slip up, but that’s alright. That’s just good character.”
Of course, Theo is providing some wild commentary the entire time she’s takling about this, and it’s hilarious. I never realized they sometimes have to take your eyeballs out for that kind of thing, but I don’t think “brutal” is a strong enough word for it.
