Cast Of ‘The Madison’ Hopes That The Taylor Sheridan Series Goes On For 5 Seasons: “Gladly Shoot This Show Forever”

The Madison

Could The Madison be Taylor Sheridan’s next multi-season hit show?

The entire first season of The Madison is currently available on Paramount+. Sheridan and the streaming service went about releasing the show (and shooting the series) in a unique way. On March 14, the first three episodes dropped. A week later, the remaining three episodes became available. In other words, The Madison was very binge-friendly, and viewers didn’t have to wait week-after-week to see how the story unfolded.

It appears that plan was a huge success, because according to Paramount+ (who used numbers from Luminate), The Madison achieved massive ratings in its first 10 days of availability. In a little over a week, the series starring Pfeiffer and Russell brought in 8 million viewers. That translated to the largest launch for a Taylor Sheridan original series on streaming, and it was also the most popular series launch for the demographic of women ages 35 and older.

And the good news is that fans shouldn’t have to wait very long for Season 2 to premiere.

There’s no official release date for the second season, but it has been confirmed that The Madison went ahead and shot both seasons back-to-back. Before Season 1 was released, Paramount+ was even considering airing Season 2 immediately after Season 1 had dropped. Now, it looks like they’ll hold off on Season 2 for now, and series director Christina Alexandra Voros told The Hollywood Reporter that a lot of the questions that were left open-ended at the conclusion of the first season will be answered by the show’s sophomore season:

“The family unit of the Clyburns is what holds everyone together, and they’re all integral to that dynamic. So there are a lot of questions at the end of season one that will be answered when you get to season two.”

As to when exactly fans will “get to” Season 2… your guess is as good as mine.

But if you call yourself a fan of The Madison, you should find some comfort in knowing that the story could continue well beyond a second season. Michelle Pfeiffer, who plays Stacy Clyburn in the series, told The Hollywood Reporter the minds behind The Madison – including Taylor Sheridan – are “hoping for season three.”

Another member of the show’s cast, Beau Garrett, told the same outlet that five seasons for the Clyburn family story is the goal. Patrick J. Adams, who plays Russell McIntosh in the show, agreed with that number… and said that he hopes they get to shoot The Madison forever:

“I think I speak for everyone when I say we would gladly shoot this show forever. I think we’ve found something kind of miraculously special here, so as long as it’s a story people want to hear, we’d be happy to tell it.”

Considering the success of The Madison already, it’d be very surprising for the show not to be renewed for a third season. The only thing that could stop it? That might be the fact that Taylor Sheridan originally intended for it to be a two season arc. But hey, if fans are connecting with it (and the numbers suggest they are) and the cast is having the time of their lives filming it, who’s to say The Madison doesn’t go for five season or more?
