A dream come true for this Marshals star.
We are not far away from the Kayce Dutton-focused series, Marshals, airing on CBS. For fans who have been waiting for the Yellowstone story to continue, the new show starring Luke Grimes should provide fans with everything they want and more. Well, unless they were looking forward to seeing Kayce and Monica do life together… that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.
The synopsis of the show’s first season, which will consist of 13 episodes, should have been enough for us to know that Marshals wasn’t going to be a happily-ever-after story. In fact, it seems like Kayce Dutton got back to his violent ways because of a devastating loss that he suffered:
“With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.”
Just in case you haven’t seen any of the trailers… all signs are pointing towards Kayce Dutton joining the U.S. Marshals because he loses his wife, Monica (played by Kelsey Asbille).
And while one character might be killed off in Taylor Sheridan’s universe with the death of Monica, it brought a new star to our screens. We will see many new faces on the season of Marshals, including Gilmore Girls alum Arielle Kebbel.
Kebbel stars as Belle Skinner, a steadfast U.S. Marshal who works closely with Luke Grime’s character, Kayce Dutton. For Kebbel, landing this role was a dream come true: as a former Yellowstone fan, she loved that she got to be on horseback while on camera, combining her passion for horses with her work.
Kebbel opened up about this dream come true during a CBS Mornings interview:
“It is a dream come true. You know, I’m a horse girl through and through, not a trendy horse girl, a real horse girl. I started riding when I was five years old. The barn was my happy place, and my horse was my best friend. And honestly, never in a million years did I think I’d be able to combine my passion for acting with my passion and love for horses and the great outdoors.
So, every day on set it was a reminder of like, ‘Oh my god, this alignment is a true, true blessing.'”
Kebbel was then asked how she was cast for the role, and she said she was persistent in pursuing the Taylor Sheridan spinoff and loved the idea of working with Luke Grimes again.
“Well, I work with some amazing managers and agents, and they got an email or a phone call from me once a week, like, ‘What’s happening? What’s happening? When can I meet? Is there a role?’
In fact, I asked about this show before I knew the Belle role was available. Because I saw Luke was doing a spinoff, and I worked with Luke on ’50 Shades Freed,’ and he’s so wonderful, he’s a class act. I didn’t know much about the spinoff, but I knew he was doing one, and so I asked, and I think about a week later, I was in Austin at the ATX festival, and I got the call for Belle.”
Sounds like Arielle Kebbel essentially manifested this role.
CBS has confirmed that the spinoff sequel will fall into the coveted 8 p.m. EST time slot. The series premiere of Marshals will go out to all Yellowstone fans on Sunday, March 1, on CBS. New episodes of the show will air in the same time slot all the way through May – assuming no interruptions or mid-season breaks – until the season finale.
