I imagine that was the last Valentine’s Day they spent together… with the holiday that celebrates love coming up this weekend, Megan Moroney shared a wild story about the worst Valentine’s Day present she’s ever received, and honestly, it might be the worst Valentine’s Day present anyone has ever gotten, period.
In a since-expired story on Instagram story, she explained that this happened around two years ago, and a former boyfriend gifted her a “self-help book.” First of all, he better be Mr. Perfect to do something like that, but it didn’t stop there.
He included a note saying he didn’t think she would actually read it, so he had made notes about each chapter for her to read so she could get an idea of what it was about:
“Since Valentine’s Day is coming up, I thought it would be fun to talk about the worst Valentine’s Day present I’ve ever received. So this was like, I wanna say two years ago. He got me a self-help book. And included with the self-help book was a note that said, ‘I know you’re not going to actually read this, so I’ve made spark notes for you.'”
I mean… wow. Honestly, my jaw dropped when she said he made notes for her to go with it. I’m pretty sure he actually hated her, and I have to hope that the relationship didn’t last much longer after that. The audacity of some men, truly. What’s that they say about glass houses? Yeah, maybe you should put the stone down, buddy. I can tell just by that lovely gesture he is far from perfect, too.
Look, I have no problem with a self-help book, trying to make yourself better is a good thing, but the implications of why he did that speak to some much bigger (ego and/or insecurity) issues, and of all the days to do it. I need to know more about how she reacted, because that beats just about all I’ve ever heard. But I have to admit, it does make for a pretty juicy story now…
I have to imagine at least one or two songs on Megan’s forthcoming album Cloud 9 are about this relationship, and he deserves to be put on blast because that’s the most out of pocket thing you could do if you’re trying to woo your lady on Valentine’s Day. I’d highly recommend doing the exact opposite of this guy on Saturday, though I think that goes without saying..
