Setting big goals to improve himself in 2026.

Joshua Ray Walker is ready to make a change, and shared that he’s embarking on a weight loss journey to lose at least 200 pounds over the next year.

The country singer has faced a lot of challenges in recent years after announcing back in 2023 that he was undergoing treatment for colon cancer. And while things appeared to be going well, he suffered a major setback when he shared that after 6 months of chemotherapy that the cancer had spread to his lungs and would be re-staged to stage 4.

Shortly after the life-changing discovery, Walker underwent surgery for a biopsy, and at the time he provided fans an update on the procedure:

“They poked five holes in my ribs, deflated my lung, sewed it back together, reinflated it, and they are going to be taking a drainage tube out of it later today.”

After undergoing the biopsy, however, doctors told him that their initial diagnosis was incorrect and that his lungs are cancer-free. And in even better news, not only did he not have cancer in his lungs but as far as doctors could tell, there was NO cancer left in his body.

Obviously he’s still not totally out of the woods yet, even a year and a half later, as Walker shared at the time that he won’t be totally in remission for another 5 years. During that time he’ll still have to undergo scans and tests, but the best news of all is that as of right now, his “life is not in imminent danger.”

There’s no doubt that going through something like that gives you a new perspective on life and motivates you to make some changes. And in 2026, Joshua has committed to a big one: Losing 200 pounds.

The country singer started a new social media account to document his journey, revealing that he currently weighs over 600 lbs. and is giving himself 400 days to get down to 400 lbs. And he’s using social media to not only show off his weight loss and motivate others who are ready to make a change, but to keep himself motivated and accountable:

“I’m giving myself 400 days to get down to 400 lbs. So if you want to watch an extremely fat man become a slightly less fat man, follow along now.”

Joshua says his plan is simple: To move more and to eat less. He also shared that he has an oncology check-up this month where he’ll have his first weigh-in, because he doesn’t even own a scale that goes up to 600 lbs. And he’s already shared videos of his walks, revealing that he’s walking in both the mornings and evenings while also adding in some additional cardio.

He also cleaned up his “outdoor gym,” where he says he lost 110 lbs. before his cancer diagnosis, but gained it back during treatment.

So far Joshua has already racked up nearly 300,000 followers on his weight loss account, including one fellow country star who can relate to the journey that he’s on.

Jelly Roll has made an incredible transformation over the past couple years, losing 275 lbs. and looking like a totally different (and much more healthy) person. So naturally, he was quick to offer encouragement and help to Joshua as he embarks on his own journey:

“You can do it brother. I believe in you. Let’s go! Hit me up if you need anything”

And of course Joshua admits that he’s been inspired by Jelly Roll’s weight loss – and he may even be adopting one of Jelly’s own goals:

“I’ll meet you on the cover of GQ in 400 days.”

You love to see people taking charge and making positive changes in their lives, especially after all that Joshua has been through. It’s going to be fun watching him make the transformation and become a better version of himself, and hopefully him and Jelly can get together on the cover of GQ very soon.

You got this brother. And if you ever want to go for a walk when you’re in Nashville, just hit me up.
