Pretty cool, regardless of your feelings about her.
Of course everybody has strong opinions on Taylor Swift. The pop superstar has one of the most hardcore (and at times, insane) fanbases in the world, but it seems like there are equally as many people who groan and roll their eyes at the mention of her name, whether that’s because they don’t like her music or her politics, or they’re just annoyed by Swifties.
But I think even Taylor’s most hardcore haters have to give her credit for this one.
Swift is, of course, engaged to star Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and on game days can usually be spotted in her suite at Arrowhead Stadium cheering on her fiancé.
Despite the fact that it’s been a rough season for the Chiefs, who were eliminated from playoff contention this month for the first time since 2014, Swift was on hand on Christmas day to watch Kansas City take on the Denver Broncos, in what might end up being Kelce’s last game at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs, led by third-string quarterback Chris Oladokun after season-ending injuries to Patrick Mahomes and his backup Gardner Minshew, ended up falling to the Broncos 20-13. But Swift made sure it was worth it to the hard-working employees at Arrowhead Stadium who had to show up to work on Christmas day.
According to an employee who works in catering at the stadium, Swift and Kelce took the time to greet all of the employees on their way out, and even slipped them a little Christmas gift: $600 in cold hard cash.
“I was working at Arrowhead for the chiefs game Christmas day. I was doing my end of season to do list, talking with my coworkers when security goes to walk through. First it was momma kelce, then it was Travis, and then Taylor. She was running around telling everyone merry Christmas and came towards me, saying thank you so much for working on Christmas, please take this, Merry Christmas. My mind just froze. Of course I said Merry Christmas and thank you so much. Travis and her were smiling so big and just kept saying merry Christmas, thank you for working Christmas … but then they were gone and I stopped to look at what was in my hand…. $600. My whole paycheck for two weeks. I had just dropped that much for Christmas for 8 kids. I immediately started crying.”
The employee called both Taylor and Travis “beautifully kind people,” and said she hasn’t even been able to bring herself to spend the money gifted to her by the pop star, sharing a photo of a framed $100 bill alongside the rest of the cash:
“I came home and cant bring myself to spend it. So I framed one. Still havent spent any … but I wanted to share the story with people who will appreciate it with me … Taylor and Travis are beautifully kind people. Its very true, incredible and very kind people.”
Regardless of your feelings on the pop star, you have to appreciate her generosity. She’s a billionaire, but there are plenty of stories from behind the scenes and out of the spotlight of Taylor being generous with her wealth, including paying out millions of dollars in bonuses to her crew on her Eras Tour.
