Looked like a helluva time.
This past weekend, Ernest played a very special show for members of the Marines and Navy at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C. as part of ongoing 250th anniversary celebrations for the The United States Marine Corps, and of course, he put on an awesome show for our men and women in uniform:
But possibly the most exciting part of the concert was when Ernest brought out First Lieutenant Jackson Perkins of the United States Marine Corps to sing with him, and if that name sounds familiar, it’s because you might recognize Jackson from a viral moment he had over the summer onstage with Riley Green when Riley headlined Windy City Smokeout, as he and Jackson teamed up fro a duet of “In Color”:
@rileyduckman Semper Fi Thank you First Lieutenant Jackson Perkins of the United States Marine Corps for singing this one with me at @Windy City Smokeout #incolor #janeyjohnson ♬ original sound – Riley Green
But it wasn’t just a one-off performance, as Jackson has actually been posting tons of videos on TikTok of covers of tons of country songs since his performance with Riley, and he’s incredibly talented and has share a wide variety of renditions that are all impressive.
Here’s a little “Check Yes Or No”:
@jackson_perkins Another George Strait banger for ya tonight. #checkyesorno #georgestrait #geetar #countrymusic #yeehaw ♬ original sound – Jackson Perkins
And “Neon Moon”:
@jackson_perkins Was sweating bullets in my truck but it still may be my favorite spot to play #countrymusic #neonmoon #sweatingmyassoff #geetar ♬ original sound – Jackson Perkins
So it was only fitting that Jackson join Ernest and his band for a cover of Hank Williams Jr.’s “Family Tradition,” which certainly had everyone fired up and looked like an incredibly fun time.
I don’t know if Jackson has any interest in any sort of country career following his time in the Marines, but either way, he’s got a great voice and certainly has a future in it if ever decides to go down that path… clearly, he knows how to work a crowd too.
